Oh, I loved this one by Ms. Carter. Besides the excellent writing, in depth characters the reader becomes invested in, an intriguing plot that keeps the reader engaged & on emotional & suspenseful tenterhooks, Ms. Carter gives her readers a lot to read. And I mean that in the best of ways. There are times a reader wants short & fast but I personally adore when I find an in depth read that is well written. It gives my mind something to savor & ponder, to immerse myself into with intense contentment, to be able to enjoy an excellent read without feeling as though the clock is ticking down rapidly to the finish.
This one is a very sweet & loving romance between a gentle Hero who realizes he is willing to go to whatever lengths are needed for the terrorized & traumatized heroine he rescues.
This one has sizzling heat, suspense, danger, mystery wonderfully combined with romance, support & love. I found this to be beautifully written & I vastly enjoyed it from the first page to the last.
It is not for those who want a short, fast burst read. BUT, if a reader wants to be immersed in a plot, characters & the words & phrasing of a book, read this one.
IMO the author's love of writing resonates through this one providing appreciated & wonderfully satisfying results for the reader.

Gavin is a Doctor who is heading to a beach house his friend owns when he spots Elly on the side of the road. He picks her up and cares for her but when she awakes, she has no memory of the last few hours. Will he be able to help her? Can he keep her safe from the danger she must face? This is a fast-paced steamy, daddy read with loads of drama, suspense and emotion. Great characters with lots of emotion and chemistry. I liked it.

A mother and her young son, a brutal ex-husband, lead to an amazing read
This is one of those books that once you begin to read the mystery of the characters and the unknown story as it begins to unravel ensure that you will be totally gripped by the suspense and will ensure that you will find it impossible to put down.
When Dr Gavin Minchin had been coming to the end of an enforced break as he recovered from a particularly nasty case affecting a young boy that had sadly died under his care, it had been such an unnecessary death due to parental abuse.
Never could he have imagined the unconscious woman he discovered in the middle of no where would have such a dramatic effect on his life, he discovers that she is obviously in need of unbelieves that she s actually gent help. She appears to have lost her memory and also her recently deceased best friend, his heart aches for the beautiful woman inn his care.
As Gavin takes Elly and her young son into his home and begins to build a life around the he is able to see hoy Joey, her young and traumatised son begins to open up and act like a happy and more relaxed little boy, however her ex is still a threat and when he decides to attack and harm them whilst they were in his care there is no other option but seek retribution.
This is a read that you will find quite heart wrenching at times and the love and care between Gavin, Elly and her son are simply heart-warming.
This book has been so well written by the author the detail to both the characters and even the medical attention was very exact and it all adds to the reality of the read.

[Just a Little Reading & Reviewing]

I definitely found myself intrigued by the storyline and Elly tugged at my heart strings from page one. Doctor Daddy, aka Gavin, is a mix between the sweet and wholesome boy next door and the big, alpha protector type. He will easily win you over, especially when he sets out to protect and care for his Elly.

These two were likable and you easily want to root for their HEA, especially after learning about their individual traumas and hardships.

For me, there just didn't seem to be enough romance, it was all very instant and OTT, given the fact that they connect over a short 24 hour period that had her suffering temporary memory loss and taking on the persona of another person. That part really threw me off for a sec. Even after Gavin makes it a point to assure her that he loves and wants her and not the other person/personality she was pretending to be, it still left me a bit uncomfortable.

But I liked both Gavin and Elly and the karma that come around (or had a helping hand or two) for the despicable Les kind of made this book for me. I had a really hard time stomaching every scene where he made an appearance and I won't lie . . . I SERIOUSLY enjoyed watching karma catch up to this idiot.

This is a semi dark read that deals with deep emotional trauma, domestic abuse, suicide, terminal illness and death. But it does have a cute HEA, a devoted Daddy, a precocious Little and zero cheating (between the MCs). This story contains age and medical play.

Wow where do I begin on this story. It has power exchange sure but the story takes on a plot which makes it very interesting because it puts issues such as child abuse, abuse of a spouse and what happens when you receive trauma. Elly and Joey Sutton are pawns in Elly's husband scheme named Les Sutton. Les is a bully and abuser. He gets off on scaring his wife and child into submission. He did all the things an abuser does to cover up his domestic violence. He separated her from the only family she really knew her BF Fiona and her parents. Her mother was an addict and had died and when this story starts out and also her best friend had cancer. So all this comes together in a perfect storm for her and Dr. Gavin Minchin to meet. Dr. Gavin had this young child who had been abused come through his emergency room and affected him more than he would let on to his fellow staff. He had a friend who told him to go to his cottage on the beach and take some time. I like this book because of its subject matter and how it was told.

Elly lost her best friend Fiona to cancer. Her husband is abusing her emotionally, mentally and physically. Her husband Les was supposed to return their son Joey to Elly. She follows the instructions he gave her to get to a specific location on the beach. When she approaches the beach the boat her son and Les were supposed to be on he blows it up and she is knocked down by the explosion but gets up and makes it to the edge of the road before collapsing. Gavin is on
leave after losing a child that was abused brought into the ER where as a Dr. he tried everything to save him. He finds Elly but that is not who she says she is. He performs basic first aid and sits by her side into the morning. There are many twists and turns especially when she takes on the persona of Fiona. Her husband Les gets his in the end. You have to read this one.

Gavin has suffered a loss at work that has bothered him so his boss has told him to take some time off to recover from it. So he is going to a friend's beach house when he sees something along side the road and it turns out to be a woman. She's injured by she can't remember how she got there and much about her past. But slowly things come back to her. Gavin is drawn to her but wants to make sure she is okay. He can't tell by how she acts that she has been hurt by someone. Will he found out who hurt her? Can they be together once Gavin knows everything?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Right from the first few chapters you knew this was going to be a very complicated story-line with lots of angst and even more excitement. Exploding boats are not nearly as explosive as the relationships in this Doctor Daddy story with heavy domestic abuse overtones. Gavin is the Doctor Daddy and Les is the abusive husband, and never have two men been such polar opposites. Please be advised that there are heavy triggers here, especially for anyone who has been involved in a real life domestic abuse situation. This fast paced story will keep you engaged throughout the good and the bad. The good, however, is very good and the HEA is extremely heartwarming. A must read. 5 Stars

Gavin finds Elly unconscious next to the side of the road one nigh. He takes her home to help her recover.
When Elly regains consciousness she starts to remember the danger she is in from Les.
She has become very special to Gavin and he is not afraid to tell her how he feels about her.
Les continues to torment her and Joey, until he goes too far, this is when Gavin steps in.
Will Gavin be able to make Les back off? Will Elly and Joey accept that Gavin will protect them both?

I got off to a rocky start with this book. I wasn’t entirely sure what I was dealing with and the bratty antics of the heroine rubbed me the wrong way. Once I got a little deeper into the book and realized where her mental and emotional state had been at, it made a lot more sense and I was able to move past it. This book hurt my heart to witness Elly’s terror and the far too realistic portrayal of a family caught in a cycle of domestic abuse. I loved Gavin and the patient loving way he helped Elly and Joey to learn how to stand on their own again, to trust in their own instincts and judgements. And in the end, I don’t think Les got nearly what he deserved.

This story was so riveting. It's a really deep story of emotional and physical abuse of Elly and her young son. Dr. Gavin Minchin finds Elli in in need of help so he takes her and her young son into his home. While Elli and her son Joey are with Gavin he starts to build a life around them. Joey starts to open up and act happy and relaxed. Now they just have to watch out for the ex because he's not done torturing them and when the ex attacks and harms them Gavin is ready to take out retribution. This has steam, suspense, danger, mystery, support and most of all love. This will keep you reading until the end. Totally wonderful story. Elly has left her abusive husband and was picking up her son from her crazy husband when she witnessed something unimaginable and disassociated from her real identity. This interesting and exciting Doctor Daddy relationship between Gavin and Elly was filled with the struggles attached to a woman with a child trying to leave a conniving abusive husband while desperately holding on to an honorable and loving man who knows how to take care of all her needs. When I first looked at this book I thought it was just another D/LG story. I was so wrong. Whilst that is the theme there is so much more. For a start there are two very interesting stars who each have a story which unfolds. Elly a woman who has a son but is separated from her husband who is mentally abusive to her and then we have Gavin, a doctor who has his own trauma to deal with. They meet under strange circumstances and start a loving relationship. Very well described characters and a very interesting story. I must read more of this author as she manages to capture the passion when appropriate and couple that with heart racing intrigue. Recommended as a very enjoyable read.

Wow!  This is not the book I thought it was going to be.  When the main characters initially meet I wasn't that impressed with Fiona.  However, when the truth starts being revealed everything changes.  This book has surprising depth and emotion in dealing with traumatic events with sensitivity and understanding.  Not what I expected, but better.
