Deuce of Hearts
Memphis, Missouri, the small town that Sawyer Kingham grew up in, a place that she vowed to never return to. Unfortunately, Sawyer is forced to break that vow when her mother unexpectedly passes away. Her mother may have been her best friend but she kept one secret from Sawyer-the truth about her father. When Sawyer returns to Memphis, she tries to find the answer she's always been waiting for. Navy fighter pilot Garrison Cocuzzo is seeking solace and anonymity as he tries to fly under the radar during his break from deployment. Dropping in on his grandfather who lives in Memphis, Missouri seems like the perfect place to avoid his family and gain the comfort of home while on U.S. soil. His plans of peace and quiet are quickly erased when Sawyer Kingham comes crashing into his life. Sawyer seeks answers. Garrison wants tranquility. When the pair meet, Garrison knows he'll stay by Sawyer's side until she has the truth she's been searching for. The real question for both of them is what happens after the facts are uncovered.

** Review by Kylie from Bloggers From Down Under **
Awesome.
Amazing.
Confronting.
Mesmerising.
These are some of the words I can think of to describe this new book by Lyssa Layne.
We meet Sawyer, a competitive ballroom dancer, a little after her mother has passed away. She must go back to her home town to clear up her mums belongings. But she’s also secretly hoping to find the identity of her father amongst said belongings.
Garrison is a military man, an airman, and whilst on deployment, comes back to the only family he cares for, his grandfather.
When their two worlds collide, literally, life is about to take a turn for these two. From the onset of them meeting, sparks fly, but Garrison is wary, he’s had his heart broken before, and what kind of life would they have if he was continuously overseas??
But there’s just something about Sawyer that he can’t get out of his mind. So against all his better judgements, he agrees to help Sawyer with her search for her father.
A sensationally beautiful love story that will have you reading through tears to the end.
It’s a lovely reminder that “family” isn’t always blood. It’s the people that protect you, love you and always want what’s best for you that can be counted as true family.
“Dance with me, beautiful Angel” where the last words a very precious man once said to me………so Dance I shall. Just like this book will dance in your heart long after you’ve finished reading.

Deuce of Hearts by Lyssa Layne is an amazing story. Ms. Layne has delivered a well-written book loaded with phenomenal characters. Kudos to Ms. Layne for the lovable characters and their interactions. Sawyer returns to Memphis, Missouri when her mother dies unexpectedly. Garrison is a Navy fighter pilot on leave, visiting his grandfather in the same town. Their story will touch your heart. There is plenty of drama, humor and sizzle to hold readers captive to their e-readers. I enjoyed Deuce of Hearts from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Lyssa Layne in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Lyssa Layne never fails me. She writes stories that tug at your heart and loosen those heartstrings. Deuce of Hearts tells the story of two people who need each other without even knowing each other.
Small town Memphis, Missouri is the perfect setting and hiding place for Garrison Cocuzzo. He wants a few weeks of peace and some quality time with his grandfather. He doesn’t expect to collide with the gorgeous Sawyer Kingham. They will take a journey together for the next three weeks and hope to find the answers Sawyer is seeking. They both know there’s a time limit to their acquaintance and have lives to get back to so why do they all of a sudden not see their lives without each other.
Beautifully written and left me wanting more.

I couldn't put this down!
I am a huge fan of Lyssa Layne, always, but she knocked it out of the park with this book! Sawyer and Garrison are a couple you will find yourself rooting for as soon as they meet. Your heart will break several times for Sawyer, and you'll fall in love with Garrison before you're halfway through the book. By the end, you'll need to have Kleenex ready - twice - and as soon as your first tears dry, you'll cry a bunch of happy tears! I don't want to give away the book, I just want to strongly encourage you to read it! I started Duece of Hearts after dinner and stayed up to finish it the same night!!!

This is definitely a cute story! But it's also quite emotional - I love Garrison & Sawyer's "meet cute" and the pacing of their friendship-to-lovers. The mystery of Sawyer's father was at times funny, but mostly heartbreaking & I wasn't really a fan of that whole plot point! I WAS a fan of the love & family Sawyer discovers, tho. All in all, an enjoyable read!! : )

Deuce of Hearts by Lyssa Layne
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
Oh Lyssa!! Yes, I do want to lick Garrison too. Your ability to write these alpha men who we want to throttle and then lick is why you are one of my favorite authors. Does he top Smitty? UHM NEVER but he sure does come in 2nd place very nicely.
Garrison is a bitter, broken Navy pilot who hides out at his grandfather’s house in a small town when he is not on his deployments. He has had a crappy upbringing, crappy girlfriend but he grandpa is the only one who really loves him and keeps it real for him.
Sawyer is a lost, broken soul. Her mom has passed and that was the last family she has left. She doesn’t know who her father is, so she is alone in the world and struggling with it all.
When the two meets, it was not under the best of circumstances. They were both at their worst and both seemed to snap at the other. When they spend a little bit of time together, they both realize the other person IS their soul mate. But ow can they make it work with him being I the military and her living in another state.
The story was sweet with Sawyer looking for her father and having Garrison by her side. He taught her that family doesn’t have to mean blood relations. While Garrison is teaching her she too is teaching him some life lessons…not all women are bad and sometimes families are a blessing and not a curse.

Sawyer Kingham's mom has just died and she has returned to Memphis, Missouri. She now finds herself alone without any family as she has no idea who her father is. When a chance encounter results in her backing into a motorcycle on the main street of town she ends up meeting a man whom frustrates her in so many ways.
Garrison Cocuzzo is a Navy fighter pilot and spends any time when he is not on duty out with his grandfather, Cozzo. When a dog runs out in front of his motorcycle he manages to avoid hitting the dog but soon his bike his run over by a beautiful girl.
As Sawyer goes on a journey to try and find her biological father Garrison aids her but will she find what she is looking for?
This was such an awesome book on finding the light through the dark.
Sawyer was great and I felt so bad for her as she went on this quest to find her father to only get a few leads and disappointment again and again. She had such a beautiful soul and I loved how feisty she was. The dialogue between Sawyer and Garrison was awesome and I loved reading about the two of them and how their relationship grew.
Garrison was super interesting as he had no interest in a relationship yet something intrigued him about Sawyer and he wanted to help her out. I was shocked when I learned more about Garrison and what he came from. He cracked me up so many times and he was such an excellent support for Sawyer.
I laughed many times and other times I wanted to cry during the book. I absolutely loved both Sawyer and Garrison and adored Cuzzo!!
This book was another amazing one from the author and I loved it from start to finish!
