I had loved the first book in this ecological dystopic series and decided to read this the second book and I was not disappointed as the action continues! Avalon the young woman is as courageous as always and dives into danger head first, the rest of the characters show resilience and I love the political innuendos in this book! Today more than ever our planet is facing destruction because of greed and lack of conscience so that the environment is being terribly exploited and such things as the bees mentioned as the fulcrum in this book are also in our real world being threatened!! We can learn so much from these ecologically intelligent and aware books! I am dying to read the rest of the series! The bunker in the Seiko tribe lands and the communal way of life, off the grid, yet so sustainable even in the times of such deprivation is heartening to read about!! This is a definite read for all environmentalists who understand the need to fight for our very life blood, the gifts of mother earth herself!
