Rate this book
When Fernlight and Bramble open their private detection agency, they dream of bridging the gap between humans and magical beings. Since the prophesy was fulfilled five years prior that allowed humans to see magical beings, relations have been a little . . . tense.

Now their first client walks through the door. An agent of HOP-D the organization responsible for many disappeared fairies, sprites, and other magical folk. They must put aside their fears and take the case.

Someone is manufacturing a drug that will give humans the ability to cast magic, and it’s up to The Magic Search Agency to stop it. History tells how humans handle power and it’s not told by the survivors because the dead don’t talk.

If you love imaginative and complex worlds filled with engaging characters, suspense, and a twist of the unexpected, you’ll enjoy the first book in the HOP-D cases.

Perry Wilson is a Canadian author based in Vancouver, BC who has big ideas and an itch to tell stories. Having spent some time on university, a career, and life in general, she returned to writing three years ago and hasn't looked back since (well, maybe a little, but only while parallel parking).

not kindle unlimited, got one of those freebie copies, think it was hmmm boofunnel thing but anyway one of the here's a free copy, would be nice if you reviewed it, really nice if you actually liked it type things. Nice, somewhat odd, read, but then again these types of fantasy etc are.

There’s magic . . . and murder . . . in the air. When Fernlight, a Sprite, and Bramble, who’s a fairy, open their private detection agency, they dream of bridging the gap between humans and magical beings. Since the prophesy was fulfilled five years prior that allowed humans to see magical beings, relations have been a little . . . tense. They didn’t count on Mamoru, an investigator with the slightly shady HOP-D (the Human Occult Protection Department), hiring them the very first day. The assignment? Someone is manufacturing a drug that will give humans the ability to cast magic, and it’s up to The Magic Search Agency to stop it. Despite their mistrust and fear of HOP-D, Fernlight and Bramble agree to take the case, but it may too late. Rumors abound, no one is who they seem to be, and Fernlight and Bramble may be in over their heads. But there’s no turning back. If the Magic Search Agency can’t solve the case, it could mean the eradication of all magical beings. If you love imaginative and complex worlds filled with engaging characters, suspense, and a twist of the unexpected, you’ll want to get a copy of Blood Magic Blues.

It's a well-done detective story where the main characters are unusual for a human being and must face with all the human difficulties, lies and other sides of their dark souls.

Blood magic blue isn't about one simple case - to find the drug-creator - but the struggles of living a magic among humans. This book is full of jokes, alive conversations, but as for me, it's not enough clues that a reader can solve with the main characters.

If you like an ordinary detective plot with not ordinary characters than you'll like it. Furthermore, it's only the beginning of many new stories!

Not your ordinary detective story. The main characters are a fairy and a sprite.
They open a detective agency together and have to overcome all the problems of not just a new business but dealing with humans as well.
Keeps you entertained and is quite hard to guess the culprit.
I received a free copy, many thanks to the author.

My third read from author P.A. Wilson and while it was not as good as the first two (Hubris & Avarice)! it was still a good read Exciting story-line, characters that you can get into. I'll be reading more from this author!

This is a solid 3 star. The story was predictable and a bit overly easy. I want to know far more about the history of the world.

The best part of the book was the inhuman feeling of these characters. They genuinely felt... Inhuman, in the best sense.
