Is she the one? By Bob Boog is a riveting romantic comedy novel that takes readers through the motions of life and romance — a journey that is sure to invoke laugh-out-loud moments.

Bob, a real estate agent is at the point in his life where he just wants to meet the one. But he hasn’t had much luck thus far. He finds himself mulling over what exactly he might be doing wrong, what he may do to turn his luck around, and lastly, how in the world will he know when he finally meets that one special girl. A chance encounter with a psychic fuels his desire, so much more, leaving him ever so determined to meet his soul mate. This event sets him off on a journey filled with hope, disappointment, and a ton of hilarious moments. Will Bob ever get it right and meet the one?

From the first page up to the last, there wasn’t a single dull moment. The characters and events were all very interesting, so much so, I felt I had to know what choices would be made, and what would happen next; I had no other option. This partly true story, as confessed by the author, stands at 139 pages which makes for a quick fun read. That, and the fact that the author comes off as a great storyteller, as he draws you into the world of the protagonist; weaving the narrative in such a way that will have you all so curious and deeply invested in the characters and final outcome.

I very much enjoyed reading this book, that I just did not want it to end. The plot, setting, and characters all worked well to further enhance the story. I can’t count how many times I bust out laughing at something that was said or an event that unfolded in the story. I’ll definitely be looking out and anxiously waiting for the release of Book 2: Love Isn’t Easy. I did not notice any obvious grammar or editing errors, leading me to believe that the book was professionally edited. I’d recommend this book to those who have an appreciation for romance and comedy, and pretty much anyone who loves a good read.

Meet Joel. He likes being single. He is a real estate agent and Bobs friend. And he is definitely not a good influence for Bob who wants a wife. While Bob is looking for new home, he meets Mary. She is a psychic working at a real estate event. She tells Bob he would meet the one very soon.
Bob decides to find a wife. He went on many meaningless dates and such. Just as he was about to give up, Joel talked him into going to a nightclub. There he met a Spanish girl Sophia. So she said. Turns out she lied about her name. Bob takes her to church and then to a Mexican restaurant. Then took her home.
Bob really enjoyed being with her and wants to see her again. Is she the one? Bob wonders. And I guess you will have to read this book to find out too. I really enjoyed this book. I recommend it to everyone that enjoys love stories.

Is She the One? by Bob Boog is a sweet, amusing story about the oh-so-common search for true (romantic) love. It’s full of romance and comedy, as well as some wisdom on how to tell when someone is “the one.” With a full title that includes the phrase “partly true,” it can be hard to tell what really happened to Boog and what is a fabrication, but that blur between reality and fiction is part of the fun.

Bob, while sometimes making annoying decisions that made me want to smack my forehead, is a relatable and likeable character who I wanted to see get a happy ending. Roxanne, the leading lady of this book, is even more likeable to me; I love her spirit, her stubbornness, and her ability to know what she wants and how she gets it. Given my personal experience with family, I was surprised as to how well Bob and Roxanne got along with each other’s families, and I love that there’s hope that this ideal could come true.

The book is its funniest whenever Joel, Bob’s friend and fellow real estate agent, enters the scene. He’s absolutely insufferable and the kind of man I would want to strangle in real life, but his…jerkiness, as I will put it…also brings humor to the situation. He continuously gets Bob into trouble, either by blurting out something he shouldn’t say or getting Bob to act in ways he shouldn’t. He’s someone you love to hate and, while not a huge part of the book, serves as an appropriate foil to and instigator for Bob.

The writing is simple and easy to read, making the story go by very quickly and making me want to know more. The ending did feel a little abrupt and as though the story was not fully over, but the quote at the end justifies it for me because true love really does not have an ending. That’s why I’m glad that Boog also includes a preview for the next book; it provides a hint of what’s to come and partially ties up a loose-end that I was very eager to watch resolve. Needless to say, I was not disappointed.

Admittedly, the book was kind of cheesy at points and too overtly posed questions about love and life. Given that it uses first-person narration, I should have expected the questions to be asked directly, but I still felt the writing lose some of its quality whenever that occurred. Nevertheless, I usually avoid the romance genre due to clichés and the possibility of lack of quality, and I feel that Is She the One? eased my concerns.

A funny and fast read, I recommend this book to anyone who’s looking for “the one” or who is questioning if their current partner actually is “the one” for them. Boog helps readers come to the realization of how you will know, even if you don’t consciously realize it, while entertaining them along the way.
