Entering puberty, Ann Monroe and Sue Richardson lose their mothers, one to the bottle and one to a drunk driver. Fate brings these two different young girls together and they forge a friendship that will last a lifetime. As they experience life, they continuously turn to each other when things get too difficult to handle, even though they live miles apart. 2Friends 4Ever: A Journey to Reunion is the story of two women who select different paths but ultimately end up finding their way together. From their roots as young teens on the Hilltop in Columbus, Ohio, through their youth in suburban Dallas, Texas, they jump lifeas hurdles as daughters, sisters, wives and mothers. This is the story of real life experiences and how true friendship can survive it all.
2 Friends 4 Ever-A Journey to Reunion by Cheryl A. Morgan is the story of a friendship spanning decades. It begins with two girls who become friends in eighth grade and continues through adulthood. We learn of their happiness, their despair, their trials and tribulations, painting a picture of how friends stay friends and what it takes to last a lifetime.
The two main characters are decidedly different – in both their histories and the way they approach life. Somehow they make it work and the reader is treated to the journey of their lives.
This book, resembling literary fiction with its sweeping timeframe and lack of real climax, is a big read. At 525 pages, 2 Friends 4ever won’t be one leisurely read over a weekend, but that almost becomes the point. Morgan has taken a lifetime shared by friends and brought the reader in up close. Her descriptions of characters, events and emotions engage in a way not often found in works by new authors. Showing what friendship must sometimes endure to last a lifetime, 2 Friends 4Ever is an affirmation of the benefits of those that do.
It seems a bit unfair to review my own book, so I've been waiting awhile to let the new wear off. It's now been a year since the release and I like to think I've learned a lot along the way. I still believe this is a great read for women in the over 34 group. Anyone who has had a lifetime friendship will appreciate all the ups and downs that friendship endures and the emotions shared by those friends. It's a rather long book, which is the one thing I think I might change about it if I could find a way to tell the story in fewer pages. I hope you will all read it, though, because I do believe you will enjoy it.
