The British Empire views her as an abomination...

...to be captured or destroyed at all costs!

Alastair has created a monster, at least in the eyes of the Anglican Church and under the laws of Queen Victoria. His clockwork automaton has the spark of life, but little does the outside world know she has a heart of gold.

They must go on the run from Her Majesty's Secret Service and evade an evil plot by the man who first invented clockwork automatons--who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the Clockwork Dancer for his dastardly plans.

An intriguing start to a new series

It is a bit sad that this comic is not available in stores, as the cover is silly wonderful and would attract a whole ton of readers. Unlike most of the author's comics, this one just starts the story. We are introduced to the main characters, one of which is the Dancer herself, and she is a very worthy subject for a book, because you like her immediately. Despite her awesome powers, she is humble, caring, and quite simply adorable. You can instantly see why her creator wants to protect her. Less sympathetic is the secret service agent trying to put an end to her. I wish he had explained his case in more practical terms rather than simply calling her an abomination. (Of more concern to me is that her power levels are alarmingly high for that day and age, and there is a real danger to that.) Nonetheless, you are going to want to read more about Dancer after this brief introduction, and that is the most important thing a first issue can do. Check it out!

Amazing writing

The writing and art on this tale are amazing.

And contrary to one has-been DC artist, there is no pedo related material.

Just a wholesome steam punk adventure about a Marionette and its creator, and whether such a creation is created in the image of God.

Also, this issue reaches into Soft Scifi due to how accurate the depiction of the evils of the UK Government, arresting and harassing people for things the government doesn't want to understand, even if said people are working towards something good for their country.

A good start.

If you enjoy a good solid steampunk adventure with a likable character you will enjoy this book, it is one of the best comics I have read in the past couple of years and I can't wait for issue two.

I don't want to post spoilers so I will just say this issue is action packed and sets up a good story and characters. Clockwork Dancer is well worth your time and money.
