Kelly Boyle's carefully constructed plans are shattered when his beloved's father, Major Ransom, sets his sights on Kelly's Diamond Deuce ranch and tries to force him into running illegal guns across the Mexican border in exchange for his daughter's hand in marriage--and his life. Reprint.
Dead-eye gunplay, shifty alliances, and hard-bitten Texans push this Western above rub-of-the-mill. Dean wroter better ones, but this one rocks pretty well on its own. Mexico plays a big role since it's set on the border. Kelly Boyle, the main character, is well-drawn and likeable to cheer for. Only drawback is a plot that meanders a bit here and there, for me. But I'll look for others in this author's saddlebags.
