The insightful and compassionate photographs of Dorothea Lange (1895 - 1965) have exerted a profound influence on the development of modern documentary photography. Lange's concern for people, her appreciation of the ordinary, and the striking empathy she showed for her subjects make her unique among photographers of her day.
--www.museumca.org The selection of pictures for this book, and for the exhibition... was in an unusual degree a collaborative effort between the artist and the exhibition director...decisions were largely agreed on by mid-Sept 1965 after discussions extending well over a year. A few issues ere left unresolved at the time of her death on October 11th. and inthese cases I have depended on my own understanding of Miss Lange's intention, and on my judgement of her success--John Szarkowski Dir., Dept. of Photography MOMA

This book was ok, but I really wanted more info on her travels and a chronology. This was produced by the Met in NY in 1966. It has spurred me to find more info on her. She had travelled to my hometown and took some pictures here in Medford OR. Looking for more of those photos.
