Use this book to explore the cards as a beginner, and experience the freedom of knowledge.
This was a lovely read. It’s basic and easy to understand. Tarot cards can be overwhelming for a beginner. This book has helped to put my mind at ease. There’s great advice and explanations for several spreads.
I have been reading the tarot for more than 40 years however I often have those new to tarot ask questions and request book recommendations, so I often check out "beginner level" books to add to the list (or not) .... as well as books that might be more advanced. I found this book to be a bit disappointing and lacking, especially for someone who is really looking for solid information about the cards on an individual level. I found a couple of statements that were contadictory, and missed opportunities to have provided a lot more wisdom on the elements, the cards themselves and even general keywords for either the Major or Minor Arcana. The book is alright if the reader is just looking for a quick and easy read on some basic background on the tarot, however if they are looking for in depth guidance, they might wish to look elsewhere.
I really like that this book encourages the reader to find out for themselves. And to practice, Tarot is simply not a thing you can pick up quickly. This book was very informative. I also like the tips that it gave, and short cuts on how to remember. It did however leave out some history. It's was more like main bullet points of Tarot history. But I maybe bias, I do like to learn as much as I can about the background first. There is a good section about formations of the cards and how they can be used in different situations for different people. However it did leave me wanting more information. And the reason for the four star as is just simply that, I wish th her was more information to go from.
