If one knew only the birth dates of this trio of Chicago-born artists – Bonnie Harris (1870), her daughters Eleanor (1898) and Marilee (1912) – one might assume that Bonnie was the pioneer who inspired the other two to become artists. In fact, it was Eleanor, already a recognized artist, who encouraged Bonnie at the age of 79 to begin painting and to produce some two hundred pictures and collages before her death at the age of 91. Eleanor, as the talented, adored and considerably older sister was also the inspiration for Marilee, who became a sculptor.
