Mandog

Rate this book
When Duncan, Samantha and Kate (with Radnor the dog) encountered the men in the car dump, they were puzzled - and more than a bit scared. The strangers didn't look the sort to be working there. Seven young men with swarthy skins and peculiar voices - not quite an accent yet definitely strange. They were dressed identically - was it a uniform? Could they be members of a military group?

It was a group - The Group, they called themselves, and Duncan's guess in the dark was true. The Group were young revolutionaries who had come back from six hundred years in the future to work for the defeat of the Galas, the secret police of their time. Unfortunately, The Group had not come alone.

Soon, the south coast port in the 1970s becomes the setting for the power struggle of 2600 AD in which Duncan, the girls, and above all Radnor, are inextricably involved. For Radnor is made a hostage to the future, and plays a vital role in the climax.

Duncan, Kate and Samantha first appeared in the BBC television serial Mandog where their adventures, always gripping, often funny, won them a host of admirers.

A decent adaptation of a children’s science fiction serial from the seventies. It brought back many fond memories.
