Being a soldier changed Logan McDade's life. It turned him from a boy into a man and he'd fought for his country for ten years. He was in his prime, or so he thought, until one fateful day when his camp was ambushed, his career ended, and his life was turned upside down. Returning Home for Christmas should be a happy occasion, but for Logan McDade,it's the complete opposite. Returning home to Montana where his family own and run a ranch was his idea of hell. With his future unclear, he returns home to see what he can piece together of his fragile life. When Logan's path crosses with his neighbour, Alisha, his heart beats fast, and his head tells him to follow his heart, even though Alisha has her own set of issues. Can two broken souls be mended? Will their pasts eat them up? Will family be the answer to a happy Christmas?
Logan and Alisha have individually faced their own battles, their own personal wars and pain, but either of them like the others. Logan leaves the army after being discharged due to injury and he fears his life has ended. Alisha wished he life had ended so many times during her own torment of abuse by someone she thought she loved. Both end up back home for Christmas, where they meet one another and both start a journey of healing through one another...
Excerpt: Behave. Be careful. Believe. The four words I said before we went out on any mission. Behave, because we weren’t invincible. Be careful, because we needed to get home. Believe, because if anything happened to us out there we needed to believe we would get home.
I admit to taking a while to fully immerse myself in this story, but once I did, it was simply beautiful. The emotion the author poured into a war veterans life, post war, and Alisha's suffered abuse, I regularly blubbered throughout this story. But the interlinking elements of his family members and Logan's ability to face their issues with Alisha by his side sees the making of this pair.
Excerpt:
".......Remember I told you that one day a man would come along and show you what love really feels like?" She nodded and tears appeared in the corners of her eyes, but she didn't need to hide her emotion from me, because I felt it in my heart when she was happy or sad. "Well, I was hoping that you would let me be that man. Let me show you what love is like. Let me spoil you like a queen. Let me in." I lifted my hand to wipe a tear from underneath her eyes.
Their love story although difficult, blew me away. It was a refreshingly different read, which is one of many reasons why I adore this author. KM Lowe always brings a new element to her stories, and they never feel replicated or over-used. She is, and continues to be one of my go-to authors and this book is definitely no exception.
I really hope this family make a come back as I would love to see move from certain characters you meet in this book....but you have to meet them for yourself. I urge you all to one click Home for Christmas and prepare to fall in love with the McDades!
Final Excerpt: When I was with her, it was if my body came alive. My soul became whole. My mind awakened. My future looked bright. Was she really all I needed to move forward with my life?
This book was such a good read, I am so glad that I found this author!
This a beautifully written story of an injured solider coming to terms with his injuries and having to face returning home to a town he couldn’t can’t wait to leave. I loved the story and relationship between Logan and Alisha and how it developed as the book went on. They were a brilliant couple, the word play and interaction between them really made the story for me.
It was well written and I was addicted as soon as I started reading - 5 stars - this is definitely a must read - it really is such a good book!
I was given this book in turn for an honest review.
Two lost souls, one broken heart, one broken man. With no clear future ahead of them, Logan and Alisha find themselves drawn to each other. Can two broken souls mend together? Find a future together? Or will their pasts haunt them too much to move on?
I always love a good Christmas Story and Home for Christmas hits the spot perfectly. It’s sweet, romantic, beautiful and with a little added tragedy/heartache, drawing you into the story. K.M. Lowe isn’t a new author to me; however, this is the first book of hers I have read, and I can’t wait to read more of her stories.
This story is packed full of loveable and intriguing characters. It also has an element of characters you are torn about. One minute you find yourself loving them and the next you’re surprised by their actions, showing that they are a deeper and much more complex character than first thought. This story stirred a lot of emotions for me, it is quite the emotional rollercoaster to read, secretly I loved every minute of it.
There was an element to this story that felt unfinished, which was equal measure frustrating and fascinating. I feel this story had a little more to tell me and business was left unfinished. However, I have since discovered that K.M. Lowe has two more books coming out, for some of the other characters, that I desperately want to know more about and discover how their journey continues. This is music to my ears.
Logan and Alisha are a strong and sweet couple. Their love not only for each other, but their family, is remarkable. Their families took a hold of my heart, I was invested in them and their lives, I wanted to see them happy. K.M. Lowe did not disappoint me with Logan and Alisha, and I have faith she won’t disappoint me with the following two books.
If you enjoy festive, or military romances, this story is for you.
This book was AMAZING!! As the wife of a disabled veteran this book hit close to home for me. I loved the way Logan didn't dwell on his injury, but still had his moments of doubt that so many injured soldiers have. This love story was very sweet and Logan and Alisha were perfect together! I really enjoyed the stories within the story. I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. A veteran, Logan, returns home to his family ranch in Montana. The last place he really wants to be as he felt he didn't really fit in. En-route, he meets a lovely lady, Alisha, who lives right beside his family. It's the beginning of a beautiful attraction that turns into so much more. But not before the past is settled and left where it belongs, in the past. This is the first book that I've read by Kelly Lowe and it won't be the last.
Moving and sensitive story of an injured veteran returning home to his family after rehab and being discharged from the army. It's mixed feelings for Logan because he hated Blue Ridge but loved his family, a fateful meeting as he leaves the airport is the start of a new journey. Alisha is back home after an abusive relationship, to regroup and find herself again, to find her confidence and start anew. Both characters have their issues to deal with and family isn't straight forward either so it's not plain sailing. There is some angst and even suspense as you wait to see which way plot aspects go, it's gripping and even intense at times, certainly a tear jerker as well. I loved both Logan and Alisha, both had suffered and just wanted peace and maybe to settle and be happy. It's a romantic read that definitely grabbed my heart, wanting the best for this couple but also the extended family and it was quite mixed feelings about some things by the end of this. It is well written and realistic, the issues are things many people deal with in this day and age, so many injured soldiers, mixed up families and abuse victims, I loved that it was grounded with the realism of life today for me it made it easy to connect and love the story. Gave me all the feels.
Home for Christmas by K.M Lowe is the first book of an amazing new series that you'll definitely want to keep up to date with!
Going home would be like starting over again, and I'd have to learn to walk before I could run. It was going to be a new kind of mission for me, and the odds of me getting through it were not in my favor. - Logan
I've struggled to write this review as there's so much I want to say about this book and the author - all of it good! This book was such an emotional and page turning read that left me wanting to pick up the next book immediately but, sadly, it's not yet written. K.M Lowe is a wizard with words and she weaves a story that will leave you spellbound and wanting more. She creates characters that you can relate with and gives you a book that is so much more than just your typical Christmas read. This Christmas story shows the good and the bad of life. It shows you how a person can battle through the tragedies in their life to find love and build themselves a better, brighter future. This book gives me hope for finding my own HEA after going through situations that allowed me to understand some of how Aisha was feeling.
Something inside of me sparked alive at the thought of bumping into her again. I wanted to do a dance, but it was clear that this girl had things on her mind. Was it fate that both of us were standing at the entrance to the airport, both with uncertain futures? - Logan
Home for Christmas touches on some sensitive subjects but K.M Lowe writes in such a way that they don't make this a difficult book to read. Instead, you become focused on the journey taken by Logan and Alisha who came back into each other's lives just when both of them needed someone to keep them strong and show them that their scars, inside and out, don't have to signal the end of them living their life to the fullest. You'll also meet characters who add to the emotions you're already feeling and thankfully, we'll get to see more of these characters when Logan’s sister gets her own book, which will be book 2, and also her husband in book 3. I'm hoping that K.M Lowe also has books planned for Logan’s brothers as I want to see if their mother gets all those grandchildren she's dreaming of.
"Am I hurting you?" "No. You're healing me." He kissed my head and my eyes closed. - Aisha & Logan
Whilst this book is about Logan and Alisha, there's also a storyline incorporated that involves Allana, Logan’s sister, and I have to say that it was a scene involving her that had me in tears; it was the most emotional of the book and two weeks later I still think back over it. I won't give any spoilers but it's the scene with Max at the motel. As with any book of K.M Lowe’s, I fully recommend that you purchase/download this book as soon as you can because you WILL NOT want to miss it!
*I voluntarily reviewed an advance complimentary copy of this book and all opinions are my own
This is the first time that I had the pleasure of diving head first into a novel by KM Lowe. And let me tell you I most certainly was not disappointed. I was drew into the blurb right from the first line. I loved the idea of reading about an injured solider returning home after being gone for many years. Add in the excitement and wonder of Christmas and you have be hooked. When I settled in to what I thought was going to be this light story of solider returning home and finding love , I quickly discovered that this novel had so much more waiting for me within its covers.
We enter into the world of Logan McDade, having recently been discharged from the military and the only adult way of life that he has know. This send Logan home to Blue Ridge Range, place that he ran from as fast as he could when he was 18. Poor Logan does not hold much hope for his life at Blue Ridge. His goal is to make it though Christmas with his sanity and then figure out his new life from there. Little did he know that there was a lot waiting for him upon his arrival. The moment Logan arrives home in Montana, he bumps into his neighbour, Alisha, who has also returned home to Blue Ridge. A shared cab ride is the being of an unexpected journey for these two.
Hats off to KM Lowe for her outstanding writing. I admit that when I started to get into this novel I was amazed with the issues in which she touched. This novel talks and goes though some pretty heavy things. But it is written in such a way that it is not a heavy story. Now do not miss understand what I am saying here, there are a few serious topics brought up and they are beautiful and respectful written about. They focus on the survivors and not the things themselves. This novel which started out to me as a light Christmas story became so much more. I felt for Alisha when we learned of what had happened to her in her past. I cried with Logan's mom when she was worried about her son going back. My heart broke for Kayla and Allana, there is so much to their story that I hope to learn more of. Then on the other side , I fell in love with Logan and Alisha, I enjoyed reading about all the fun had around Christmas and so much more.
Having already said that this was the first novel in which I read by KM. Lowe it most certainly will not be my last.
I just hate to write this type of review and let me explain why. The author has written on Magnificent Holiday Story. It captures everything that I feel is the essence of the Christmas Holidays. My dilemma is knowing how to write this without saying to much and spoiling the storyline yet saying enough that will make readers want to buy this must read holiday book.
The storyline is about one man's struggles as he returns home from the Army after being injured. Logan has no idea what he wants to do with his life, as he just figured to be an army "lifer". He is returning to his family that he dearly loves but yet feels they've never supported his choice to stay in the army and not live on the family ranch. Once he is home he is left with even more fears and doubts as he tries to adjust. He desperately wants some type of an independent life away from the family ranch, yet his family desperately needs his help in more ways than one. And that includes his 11 year old Niece, his sister as well as the neighbor's daughter, Alisha, who has moved home after being physically and mentally abused by her ex (and those are just for starters).
Can Logan help put his family back on track and help Alisha heal while trying to cope with his own struggles? Can Logan's family and Alisha help him to see there is such a thing as life after the army as he knew it? This is such a powerful yet tender and loving family story that I just don't have enough words to do it justice. So I'll simply say Kudos to Ms. Lowe for one terrific read and to my fellow readers => I Highly recommend Home for Christmas. It's a wonderful holiday read that you just don't want to miss out on.
Most of us will never understand what it feels like to come home from army life and try to figure out how to live your life now. Realizing how much you’ve missed while you’ve been away and trying to make up for the time you weren’t there.
Logan has been in the army for 10 years, he’s seriously injured and is sent home. He is dreading being home and has no idea what he’s going to do. He hopes he can get another job in the army sooner rather than later.
Alisha has gotten out of a bad relationship and is home with her family. She’s trying to figure out her life and what to do now.
My new mission was to survive Christmas at home.
Logan and Alisha run into each other at the airport and end up catching a cab back to there shared family ranches. They hit I️t off and start spending time together.
When Logan arrives home he notices so much has happened and he’s missed I️t all. He sees his sister is struggling with a few things and he wants to help her, to make up for the time he’s missed. He just doesn’t know if he helped or made I️t worse...
Logan’s boss shows up with some bad news and a job proposal which puts a damper on things. Alisha doesn’t wanna give her heart over to Logan if he’s just going to leave again.
"Ali, don't do this. Don't push me away." "Logan, I'm not doing anything apart from trying to protect our hearts.
Will Logan decide to go back into the army? Will he survive Christmas? Will he be able to help his sister? Will Alisha and Logan find there HEA?
I️ loved this book!! Logan and Alisha are great for each other! Perfection!!
Home For Christmas by K.M Lowe is a heart warming, romantic story set around Christmas time. I absolutely loved it and I can't wait to read more by this author.
It follows the story of Logan McDade as he tries to get used to family life at home on the ranch where he grew up, a place he hasn't been in years. His home was in the army, until recently.
For Logan, joining the army when he was 19 was the easiest decision he had ever made. Now after being injured, he's back home, with his family trying to survive Christmas which he thinks is going to be a hard thing to do. All he can think about is getting back on the job and returning to the army - that is until he meets Alisha. Maybe Alisha can help take Logan's mind going back or maybe change it.
Alisha is trying to figure out what it is that she wants. After getting out of a nasty abusive relationship where she almost died, she has vowed to never get involved with another man, but she hadn't met Logan yet. There is an instant connection between the two of them. Will Logan be the one to make Alisha feel special?
Logan is starting to feel like he may belong on the ranch after all, with his family and Alisha. He's starting to feel like he fits in when his boss shows up and makes him an offer. Will he accept it and leave the new found happiness behind? Can Alisha convince him to stay?
I loved the connection between Logan and Alisha, they are a perfect fit.
Logan McDade has been a soldier the past 10 years, but on his last deployment, he got hurt, and now he doesn't know if he will ever be able to be in the military again. So he goes home for Christmas, to the last place he wanted to end up at, in Montana at his family's ranch. Alisha has been living a nightmare for a while now with her boyfriend, & when she's finally realized that he will kill her, she goes home to Montana. She never thought she would meet up with a man that she's known growing up, Logan, who would show her that she's worth more than she thought she deserved. Can these two broken souls help heal each other, & deal with family drama to have a happy Christmas? I wasn't sure how much I would like this book, because as I've said in other reviews, I usually don't do Christmas stories, but this year with the few that I have read, they are changing my mind. Including Home For Christmas since I LOVED every minute of it. Logan & Alisha are awesome together, and I cheered for them cover to cover. Plus, their chemistry was HOT, making sexy times even HOTTER! And the colorful cast of secondaries helped me run the gambit of emotions even more than just Logan & Alisha's angst, while adding in the humourous moments to get me laughing. K.M. Lowe has a talented writing style that drew me in completely, while her twists had me singing colorful metaphors more than once. I LOVED this story, and HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Home for Christmas is not your run of the mill, cuddly feeling, Christmas book. Does it have moments like that? Absolutely! And I do love the emphasis is has on family. But for Logan, coming home for Christmas was something to just get through, much like Alisha, who he meets on the way home from the airport. The military is all Logan has ever known so going into civilian life is a serious adjustment. In fact, I felt like he would have had more issues than displayed in the book. Being married to a veteran, I have seen some of the more minor effects that being overseas can have on a person. This guy transitioned remarkably well considering the amount of time he put. Either way, he and Alisha become very close and she is very supportive and understanding, which I love about the character. Her past is a haunting one indeed and you do see some of her struggles. Logan's mom is a different story. I love how feisty she is all except for how unsupportive she is of his past career choice. I get the feeling there is way more to his dad than meets the eye. The strong, silent type in a way. There were some loose ends in the book and I have to wonder whether there will be a follow up? I hope so! I would like to see the outcome!
This is only my second read from this author - the first being her previous Christmas release, so I had some kind of idea what to expect from her style of writing. I love a Christmas read so I was really looking forward to diving into this!
The main characters here, Logan and Alisha, both have fractured pasts and can never see themselves moving on. Logan, an army veteran who was injured in battle. Alisha, survivor of an abusive relationship. Both members of families on the Blue Ridge ranch.
Though the story is mainly based around Logan recovering from his physical and mental battle scars now he is back home, there are a couple of others intertwined. Logan is one of those people who just wants to help others, and doesn't think about himself. So while he is trying to help his family with their relationships, he is also developing one of his own.
I didn't know if I was going to like Logan much as he hated Christmas (!), but I loved him. He's just a guy who thought he knew where he was headed in life then had it ripped away from him. In fact I felt a connection to all the characters and their stories. The whole book was written well and had the Christmas vibe throughout.
Having read a few of this authors books before I knew to expect a story written with plenty of focus on family and of finding love with a happy ever after, but she also passionately writes about dealing with and defeating hardships and dilemmas that people face in everyday life.
K M Lowe has written a charming story that has all the Christmassy feels you could want in a Christmas romance but Logan and Alisha's pathway to happiness is one that takes them on many twists and turns due to the drama created by both of their families.
I really liked the story idea and the main characters were likable and easy to connect with as they have a believable and well developed personality. There is also lot of focus on overcoming trauma and tragedy within the story that was a little heartbreaking to read for both Logan and Alisha, it added some very deep emotions and depth to this story that would otherwise have been just a sweet story of a soldier coming home.
This was a good read for me as it kept me interested to want to see what would happen next so I give it 4 Stars!
Home For Christmas, is another heartwarming story by K.M.Lowe. Just what I needed to get in the holiday spirit!
Logan is finally heading home for good! Discharged from the Army, because he got injured, he is now heading for a new life back home in the Blue Ridge Ranch. Which, he hated ten years ago. What is he supposed to do with his life now?
"My head would always be messed up and I would always belong in the army, but for the first time in my life, a woman had turned my head."
Alisha is living with her parents after her divorce, working as a veterinarian. Since they're living on a ranch, she got plenty to do. Not interested in a relationship with a man, ever again, she's surprised she is flirting lightly with the wounded soldier.
To lost souls, can they come together and mend each other's hearts?
Home For Christmas is a great holiday story. Filled with light, love and family. If you don't love this book, your heart is dead!
I thank the author for providing a copy to voluntarily review.
Wonderful story, beautifully written about a wounded soldier returning to a home that he really didn't want to be a part of, not because of his family but because he wanted no part of running a ranch. A broken woman who was abused so badly by her ex that she is scarred by nightmares and the words that cut deep into her once confident personality. They were neighbors when they were young, returning home, they are neighbors. Can returning home for both give them the healing that they both need? I loved their story, the families, as well as the second story revolving around his sister's family and the father his niece wants to find, which is causing problems in the marriage.
The characters are well written and very well defined. The lead couple are loving, supportive and hot together. The families are supportive of their respective family member as they are of their families.
I would highly recommend this wonderful Christmas story to anyone!! Great read.
What an emotional and heartwarming read. Logan is home from the military after an injury. He is trying to adjust to a life outside of the Army. Alisha is living with her parents after being a victim of an abusive relationship. They both are trying to heal. I loved this story. It's a great read for Holiday time. It is filled with raw emotion. There are points of the story that I was smiling wide but there also parts that I had to hold back the tears. This author did an amazing job with portraying these characters and their emotions. I felt like I was going through what they were going through. I highly reccomend this book to fans of great Holiday books and also fans of a great emotional read. This book will leave the reader feeling warm but also feeling like they just had an amazing experience.
I love this book so much. KM Lowe is a fairly new author to me but this book has just made her a one clicker for me. After getting injured in Afghanistan, Logan is on his way home just in time for Christmas but her never expected to literally bump into Alisha on his way home. After her relationship almost ends in a deadly situation its time for Alisha to return home to her family's ranch. Both Logan and Alisha have their issues to work through and a relationship together was definitely unexpected. I loved reading this book so much. KM Lowe is one of my new favorites and I hope everyone gives her a chance.
Logan and Ali meet when both returning back home to their family ranches. But alot has changed in the time since they first left.
Logan is returning home aftwr ten years in the army. He was injured in a roadside bomb that saw him medically discharged. Ali is returning home from an abusive relationship.
However, maybe being together will help them heal. Help them see that there is more to life.
This isn't just your typical HEA. There are a few other storylines along the way that shows you that family life can be so hard. Even Christmas isn't always able to fix.
I am hoping that we get to see Allana and Paul's story next.
this is logans story, after been discharged from the army and hospital logan heads back home to montana just in time for christmas, and meets alisha, the chemistry between these two happens with in a couple of days and so the story begins. they have both been through a lot of heartache over the years and together they make it through. i loved reading this book and you can feel the love that the author wrote with all her heart. soldier and vet both coming together in perfect harmony. what a story.
I was given this ARC and I couldn’t put it down. I have read several books by this author and this one has surpassed them all. The beautiful romance between Logan and Alisha blossoms between two souls who have seen much misery in their lives. I love how the author draws you in and you become immediately involved with their lives. I found myself crying and cheering throughout the book when they dealt with heartache and supported one another through their heartache. I thoroughly recommend this book, a heart-warming and beautiful read.
This story is one of the best I have read in awhile. I sat and read this whole book in one sitting, I could not put it down. I love Logan and Alisha and the way they fit together, like two pieces of a puzzle. This family has had its share of heartache and suffering but seem to grow stronger through it. This is an amazing must read story, that I can not recommend enough. This book made me feel all kinds of feelings, from happy to sad to wanting to throw my device, to me that is the sign of a truly good writer.
This a beautifully written story of an injured solider coming to terms with his injuries and having to face returning home to a town he couldn’t can’t wait to leave. A chance meeting and sharing a taxi with his families neighbours daughter who is also returning home running from the evil wicked man she let hurt her for so long. Can they both find solace and each other. I loved this story and the characters. A must read author and book highly recommend.
I've read other books by this author, but this is one of my favourites. Logan has been discharged from the army after horrific injuries and shares a cab home from the airport with Alisha from a neighbouring ranch. They both have their demons that they need to sort out, and neither are looking for love, but that's exactly what happens. I love how you get drawn into both Logan and Alisha's lives and go through the rollercoaster ride they have with them
I loved this book so dang much. I wish we could give books more then 5 ☆, this one deserves way more.. I camt say enough of how much I loved this book. The chemistry between Logan and Alisha is off the charts. I loved how these 2 find comfort in each other after so much heartache in their past. This is a must read!!!
What can I say? This is a perfect Xmas read. I love the depth of the characters, i enjoyed the love story between Logan and Alisha. From page one I was hooked and Kelly's beautiful prose gave me the shivers. This book has it all, it s sweet, romantic, so engaging, it makes you want stop adulting and just keep reading. Take this baby Home for Xmas !
Such a sweet and beautiful romance between Logan and Alisha!!! I did not want to put the book down as it just keeps pulling you in!!! I love KM Lowe's writing and I look forward to her next book!!! Read and enjoy!!!
