Alex Sutherland has lived a charmed, small town life, which has been perfectly mapped out. As a recently engaged law school graduate, she is on the cusp of starting her new life and career in the big city. However, her carefully laid out plan is instantly halted when she is attacked while out for a run on the last day at her childhood home.
Although her physical wounds have healed, she is plagued with constant nightmares and recurring memories of the brutality. At her lowest moment, Alex finds her strongest support from Anthony Gabrielli, the FBI agent in charge of her case. Through his subtle encouragement, she takes steps to reclaiming her prior self, even though her assailant has not been caught. Alex just graduated from Law school and is ready to start her life, then tragedy strikes.
Alex is living in hell and can't seem to dig herself out. With the help of sexy FBI Agent Gabrielli, she starts to live again and find out all the dark secrets of her little Texas town.
With twists and turns you won't see coming, C. R. Has written a suspenseful triller you can't put down until the last page!
I truly enjoyed reading this book!

I bought this book at the author event I went to earlier this year. The back cover description intrigued me and oh boy did it not disappoint. Quite the mystery as to who was behind the attack on the main character Alex. And just when I thought I figured it out there was another twist. So many people involved in it, and you really got to watch who you thought was good and on your side. Tony was great too. Think I might have to look for more books by this author who was really nice and sweet when I met her.

Wow!
It was well worth the read, who knew I loved a tragic mystery with a happy ending, this book had me tearing up and rooting Alex along every step of the way. It has a great pace, everything seems to happen when it should.

I liked the promise of this book. I liked that Alex is a fighter and a survivor.
I was a bit skeptical in the beginning as there was a scene that gave a blow by blow of Alex’ activities as she was getting ready for a party. I thought that might be indicative of many of the scenes the rest of the book. I didn’t have to worry. It wasn’t.
Good book. I liked the characters. LOVED the relationship between Alex and Mila! Big win!
