L E Fitzpatrick is a writer of dark adventure stories and thrillers. Under the watchful eye of her beloved rescue Staffordshire Bull Terrier, she leaps from trains and climbs down buildings, all from the front room of a tiny cottage in the middle of the Welsh countryside.
Inspired by cult film and TV, L E Fitzpatrick's fiction is a collection of twisted worlds and realities, broken characters, and high action. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of her imagination and creating hugely entertaining stories.
She is currently working on her Reacher series with Creativia Publishing.
I loved the first two books in this series, so saying this one is my favorite should give you some indication how much I really, really loved this one. We know these characters by now, we know how they interact, we recognize the world they're in. At the same time, nothing that happens in this book feels predictable or boring.
Charlie, John, and Rachel are once again quickly in over their heads in a dangerous situation, and the suspense and twists kept me reading. I love how subtly this dystopian world is different. The telepathic, telekinetic Reachers add a Sci-Fi element, of course, but it blends so well that it doesn't feel overly Sci-Fi. These books all feel more like crime thrillers, in a way, which is a cool way to approach it.
The fact that this chunk of the overall story is once again a complete book unto itself is also great. It helps to read what's come before, of course, but this book feels like its own unique part of that story with nice resolution for what's happened here. You feel satisfied with the ending because it wraps up this particular storyline, even though it's obvious Charlie, John, and Rachel have more work ahead.
This book is a terrific read. If you have followed the story so far, it is the best yet as everything comes together as the mystery of the brothers is finally and almost fully reveals. I'm sure there are more things about them to come out yet.
The Smith brothers are flawed characters, not quite the heroes you get in other books because these two actually feel pain. Most book heroes never get hurt and if they do recover very quickly. A split lip can hurt for days! Charlie still hurts from the pain in his leg from injuries he received two books ago! I loved them for that.
The Reacher's story never fully made sense in the first books. There was a hint of something interesting and I didn't quite understand what it was. By book 3, I got it, I fully got it, like light bulb moment, almost. The author tells the story of London and the seedy violent surrounding areas. The magic is in the descriptions as cities are described as if they were people.
This book left me wanting, craving more. I can't get enough of these characters. Bring on book 4, I really hope there is one.
This is my first novel by L. E. Fitzpatrick and I was Enthralled!
Here is an Enticing Excerpt:
“Reachers were outlawed in England. If discovered, they were locked away; with good reason too. Reachers were violent and dangerous. They were cunning and fixated on bringing down society. And here he was with two of them, standing as though they all belonged together. He didn’t understand their powers, or why a part of him reveled in being around them. He was an accomplished surgeon. This wasn’t supposed to be his life. And yet he fitted into it so well. So terribly, terribly well.”
The novel movement was molten! Each character was fully-developed, flawed and some with exceptional supernatural abilities. This story had me on the very edge of my seat with each turn of the page. Ms. Fitzpatrick creates such warped world of passion, angst, and violence.
Dearest Reader, I Never reveal ANY spoilers in my reviews as I wish for you to discover the joys of each Tantalizing Tale for yourself. I gently recommend you purchase this book for your home library.
One of my favourite series, fast paced, original, with very good characters. Alas, this seems to be the last book so far, so we'll never know the end ?... There's still one more book to read, but it's the point of view of Pastor Darcy, so I'm afraid it won't give me any answers. L.E. Fitzpatrick, pretty please, can we have one more book in this series and know how everything turns up ? Pleaaaase ? ^^
This is the third book in the series. Jan seems to have a huge problem. Mark holds a huge grudge against Charlie. While I don't blame him, really its unfounded. What a great story. I can't help but want another book to find out if they do take that wench out or not. So I leave this wanting so much more!
