If you read “After Reed” by Blythe Stone and Emma Chamberlain as a fairytale-type story, you’ll be alright. Because that’s what it is, a wishful thinking scenario. The plot doesn’t make a lot of sense otherwise. What the characters are to each other is kept very vague, motives are not really explained, some plot threads never tied up.

And yet, and yet... I gobbled it up like it was a piece of candy, so the authors are doing something right. I can’t tell you much more. Read the blurb and make up your mind from there.

f/f explicit

Themes: catatonic, I still have a lot of questions

I like the idea of the book, it was something I don't remember encountering before in books.

I enjoy the reading and read it quite fast. It was a nice not demanding read. It was just what I needed after I abandoned the book I read before.
For most parts the book pace was alright, but closer to the end I felt it move too fast, especially the last few chapters, I would have like to read more about the progress of Reed and Leah, on the things they do, and more about the dynamic inside the group of friends.
At some points I felt I need more background regarding the relations between the characters, and sometimes I was hoping Nat and Leah might become a couple again.

All in all, this book is a nice stand-alone, that can be read as is, and it is a very nice story to relax with and pass the time.

This was a really strange story, yet oddly satisfying. The characters all feel like alt versions of the Paper Dolls series but with different names (though there is also a Natalie here too). So I guess if you're a fan of PD there's a lot to like here. It's a nice, quiet ghost romance.
