Millions of readers have found revitalization in Phillip Keller's spiritual sensitivity and rare insight, making him one of the most beloved devotional writers of all time. Now, four of his refreshing inspirational works have been combined in one volume, all joined by the common theme of God's wonderful revelation in nature. The straightforward, precise word pictures in As A Tree Grows compares your spiritual growth to the natural growth of a tree. Keller uses thoughtful comparisons - water, light, heat, perils, darkness, rest - to illustrate supernatural truths in the lives of believers. In Still Waters, Keller gently draws you into the peace and restfulness that he found in a simple cabin on the shore of a lake. He invites you to be still and know God, to sense His presence, to commune with Him quietly, without undue haste. In Sea Edge, winner of the Golden Award for Christian Literature, Keller shares the deep reflections and long thoughts of being a solitary man, leaving the footprints of small steps on the ocean edge. Sky Edge will lift your spirits to touch the heavens as Keller describes the magnificent panoramas and breathtaking beauty of the mountains. This is a profoundly inspiring guide for those who long to feel how they and the world around them are touched by His hand.
Weldon Phillip Keller (1920-1997) wrote more than thirty-five books on Christian subjects, including his most popular book A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 The son of missionary parents in Kenya, Keller grow up in Africa before becoming a world citizen as a photographer, agronomist, and author. His books have over two million copies in print.
I liked the Cedars of Lebanon portion of this book. The tree analogy to the Christian life is interesting. The rest of the books focus on his activities and thoughts in some of the wild places he has lived.
There is a soothing pattern to his writing. Pretty repetitious. Occasionally inspiring. I liked reading a chapter before bed each night as a part of my falling asleep routine.
His Shepherd looks at the 23rd Psalm is a stronger book than the 5 collected here.
I read "Sea Edge", one of the four books in this volume. It is composed of twenty-one chapters of 3-4 pages each, each focusing on a natural aspect of the ocean's shore (such as tides, birds, driftwood, shells, etc.)along with a deep spiritual truth drawn from each. One of the best books by this author I've ever read. Highly recommended.
