Patricia M Jackson writes novels with a mixture of realism and fiction. She combines humor with romance and suspense to make for a compelling read. She’s a part of several different writer groups, including the Kiss of Death chapter of Romance Writers of America, Lake Superior Writers, and Minnesota Sister Writers. You can find her living in northern Minnesota with her husband and her puppy, Eleven.
Yes, Eleven is named after the character from Stranger Things, but so far she hasn’t been able to move objects with her mind. Of course, she can get us to get up to get things for her, so she does not need supernatural powers!

What a lovely collection of ten somewhat long short stories that each highlight how a particular couple met. The stories range in time from the late 1800s to now. They are written alternating between the hero’s and the heroine’s perspectives in the first person. I would have liked to have seen the POV mixed up a little in these stories, as the first person can be a little tedious to read for such a long time, especially when you're constantly switching characters. In these stories, the author is able to give a real sense of both time and place, from Ellis Island in the late 1800s to Midwestern farms. Even though these are relatively short, she is able to make each of the characters distinct. In the brief span of time that we see these couples, I felt like I got to know the characters and became invested in their stories. Each story could be read in about the time of a break or a lunch, perfect for reading while at work.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
A well written anthology of love stories, depicts the way 10 couples met. When I think about it, one of the most catalytic moments in any relationship is the way in which the couple meet. It is the story they will tell their grandchildren and the question most often asked. Each of the stories speaks of attraction and connection, and finally the outcome. I loved the stories almost as much as I love telling my grandchildren our own story, and I loved hearing my grandparents' love story of how they met in 1918. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
