I picked this book off the shelf last night because I was so tired of the fiction I have been reading, thinking it would be a bore but it was not at all a bore. I was a teen in high school when the CIVIL RIGHTS LAW was passed , so remember the people in power and some of the details. I had always felt that Eisenhower had been cheated of his part in the laws passed in 1957 and 1960. You never read anything about it now, just the 1964 law and Johnson gets most of the credit or Kennedy. I always thought Johnson got too much credit for its passage. For what ever reason he fought for its passage, be it political or for his place in history, it does not matter. What matters is it did pass and it would not have done so if not for he and Senator Dirksen. Kennedy could never have done it. oh yeah the book was very well written.
