This was a great resource for developing my language ability in terms of how plant experts typically talk about these plants: the common parlance of the industry. I am an enthusiast but no expert. I also really enjoy these guides for teaching me to name precisely commonly recognisable plants for my province, without the need to consult an app.

The third author, Kathy Renwald, once hosted a live weekly call-in show on one of the networks I was working master control for: HGTV Canada. She was a humble and kind woman who appeared almost magical to me in her exact recall of the smallest details of almost any plant or gardening situation. It was nice to see her name again attached to this book.

I do wish these guides were more precise in their descriptions of which plants are toxic or edible; however, I know it's not the ultimate point of the book and these topics are avoided to prevent lawsuits. There is a disclaimer at the beginning explaining the book mustn't be used for such a purpose. Finally, beautiful colour photography of each species.
