The author chronicles her experiences in Berlin, a concentration camp, and during her escape to Switzerland, as well as presenting firsthand accounts of the Holocaust by Jews from Poland, Holland, Belgium, France, Lithuania, the Ukraine, and Hungary
For some reason, one of the things that stuck with me about this book was the inclusion of the map at the beginning that showed all the territory and camps that Germany set up across Europe. Sometimes you don't really realize just how impossible Hitler made it to escape anywhere, because everything was under Nazi control.
So, in that vein, I think the geographical progression of Holocaust narratives in this book was a good choice. Devastation reigned everywhere.
I would recommend this book to my fellow friend Chris Crocker. He is a very talented reader and will love this book very much. My favorite Character of this book would have to be Adolf Hitler its kind of weird but he was a very messed up person and it was kind of interesting what he thought of and how he thought of it. My least favorite character in this book is the Nazis. The Nazis were terrible people. They were brain washed in Adolf Hitler’s speeches. They obeyed his every order and had no one to stop them at the time. The author wrote this book to let people know the suffering the Jews went through the Holocaust. The part of the book that captivated my attention was the part when a Hitler made all of those concentration camps and how he tortured and killed them. What kept me reading was everyone around the world focusing on the holocaust and how it affected peoples lives. I was able to predict the ending because I have done many projects over the holocaust and have read numerous books. If I were to choose people to act this book at it would have to be Brad Pit, Seth Rogen, and Jim Carey. This book caused me to feel very depressed and sad for the Jews during the time of the holocaust. My favorite line was “God does everything for a reason.”
