About the author

Dr. Osamu Tezuka (手塚治虫) was a Japanese manga artist, animator, producer and medical doctor, although he never practiced medicine. Born in Osaka Prefecture, he is best known as the creator of Astro Boy and Kimba the White Lion. He is often credited as the "Father of Anime", and is often considered the Japanese equivalent to Walt Disney, who served as a major inspiration during his formative years. His prolific output, pioneering techniques, and innovative redefinitions of genres earned him such titles as "the father of manga" and "the God of Manga."

I don't know if "dreamy" or "nonsensical" describes this story the best. The unfolding and correlation between events are becoming further apart and less likely. Along for the ride.

This is a really lovely manga, probably the first shojo-manga ever written.
I love the drawings, typical of Tezuka, the story is simple and not pretentious, but it has quite some originality (considering especially the period it has been written).
It is nice to know that love and good always win :-)

B/c I was bouncing between so many different things this took me forever to read however I still really enjoyed it. Again elements were borrowed from fairy tales and greek mythology. I did find the ending just a teeny bit abrupt. I would have liked to see the main characters actually get married.

Cute book, though I think it overstayed its welcome a little. Just a few too many twists and complications.
