Provides deep context on religious aspects. Provides detailed understandings of nature by Maori, including how this carries through to today. The Epilogue alone is thought-provoking.

I feel I gained a great deal of knowledge and insight of my fellow people from reading this.

I enjoyed how this book didn't really focus on the Maori or their language, but rather on the setting: how they view & interact with their island home geographically & ecologically. And the (many) color photographs of New Zealand~Aotearoa are fantastic.
