I wanted to understand the phenomenon of Shri Sathya Sai Baba and the immense devotion he inspires in millions. A dear friend, who is a devoted Sai follower, gifted me this book with that intention. It tells the spiritual journey of a devotee from the US who seeks refuge at Swami’s ashram. The author’s love and devotion are evident in every sentence. While I was captivated by her memoirs—of a foreigner embracing India to connect with her spiritual guide—I realized I still have much to learn about Baba’s actual teachings and beliefs. I need to read more.

The books provides a holistic view and experiences of the author and her mother. The book mentions about many teachings of Bhagawan Baba and her experiences of putting the teachings into practice. It also has many miracles that have been performed by Baba that she has witnessed in person. Yet,the Fundamental point and und we rlying story is of the Divine Love that Baba showers on the author, her family and mankind.
Lovely Book about Bhagawan Sro Sathya Sai Baba.

Just finished my third reading of Diana Baskin's "Divine Memories of Sathya Sai Baba". What a simple, touching, sincere outpouring of Love. Feel good to have picked this book. Diana's journey to God is very simple and can be related to by almost everyone. The worldly and spiritual dilemmas she faces, her own inner inner battles, and how inimitably Bhagavan guides her through thick and thin.
The story does not have cancers cured, but just how Baba, in His 'casual divinity', with uttering one casual sentence, made her quit smoking, which she found impossible to stop for years - gives me a lot of hope that I would be able to overcome my own shortcomings one auspicious day (No, I don't smoke, but I do stuff myself more than what my little stomach can take, even when the food is just above average. Probably when I realise the body is really and totally a gift of Swami given to me, and not exactly mine, I would be able to stop abusing it).
This is not an adventurous account of a Yogi who had got esoteric instructions from the Avatar through his Sadhana, but one of a housewife, sometimes working, who was taught by the Master of Universe, the greatest lessons of detachment and Advaita through her everyday chores as a wife and mother.
I wish there was a sequel to the Divine Memories (I did find some small writing of her from around 2011). Given the last chapters describe events around late 1980s, and the direct interactions of Bhagavan with devotees reduced slowly after that, I would not expect a lot of direct interactions with Divinity in the Part-II, but I do believe the romance with inner Swami would have been equally enchanting if not more.
Somebody pass the message to sweet Mother Diana.

First hand experience with Miraculous love
A very easy writing style describing a most amazing story of the author with her spiritual teacher. It encouraged me to continue to focus on the Divine and not be overwhelmed by the usual negativity reported in the news.
