Alexander Aronovich Gurshtein (Russian: Александр Аронович Гурштейн) was a Soviet/Russian astronomer and historian of science. Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1981), worked as a senior researcher at the Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology of the USSR Academy of Sciences (since 1991, the Institute of the History of Natural Science and Technology named after S.I. Academy of Sciences). Son of Aron Sheftelevich Gurstein (1895-1941).

His main works are in the field of astrometric instrumentation, lunar astrometry and archaeoastronomy. Dealt with the problems of the world history of astronomy. He was Deputy Chairman of the Section of the History of Astronomy of the Soviet National Association of the History and Philosophy of Natural Science and Technology (since 1992 - the Russian National Committee for the History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (Department of the History of Natural Science and Technology)). Since 1996 he has been living in the USA.
