Gateway to Limbo

Rate this book
On the obscure planet of Aerie, a sinister experiment is afoot under the ageis of Ian Hawkesworth, president of an intergalactic octopus by the name of General Cybernetics. Ever alert to the expanding technology of the quick buck, Hawkesworth has discovered a way of siphoning off power from a Secondary Energy Plane ("Limbo") in return for a steady stream of living sacrifices which help shore up Limbo against its own energy problems. Allison Carstairs, G.C. chief researcher & vice president, learns that the dying native Aerian race is being used as a convenient source of sacrifices. Bolting in revulsion from the service of Hawkesworth, he soon finds himself the object of a lethal tug of war with a rival corporation. Well-plotted adventure with good snappy writing, though a bit more texture throughout would have made it even better.--Kirkus
