Filled with practical tips and expert advice, this book will help give you the confidence you need to help the animals who need it most! Animal Reiki Teacher Kathleen Prasad has written the first eight chapters, with additional author contributions from SARA shelter staff members, SARA Reiki practitioners and a veterinarian. The book includes an introduction to the organization, mission and code of ethics of SARA, the Shelter Animal Reiki Association. Also covered is an introduction to animal Reiki, guidelines for working within shelters, considerations for treating in a variety of environments, and a list of activities to "get started." The last part of the book has been provided by other SARA members and includes animal Reiki cartoon art, practical considerations for Reiki treatments of fearful cats and dogs and a Q and A section. If you are a Reiki practitioner hoping to reach out to a shelter, sanctuary or rescue organization in your area, this book is for you!
Sometimes called the "godmother" of the Animal Reiki movement, Kathleen Prasad is the global leader in the profession. She is founder of Animal Reiki Source, which offers the world's first extensive and specialized curriculum and training program in animal Reiki. Kathleen's teachings are highly regarded by animal lovers, veterinarians, animal care professionals, as well as shelter and sanctuary staff and volunteers around the world.
She is also cofounder and president of the Shelter Animal Reiki Association (SARA), the first nonprofit of its kind, promoting the use of Reiki meditation in animal shelters, sanctuaries and rescues worldwide. Kathleen directs SARA’s educational program, which spans the globe, with members across the U.S., as well as in Canada, Europe, India and Australia. Kathleen has taught Reiki to the staff and volunteers of many animal organizations, including BrightHaven, Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary, The CARE Foundation, Best Friends Animal Society, the San Francisco SPCA and Guide Dogs for the Blind. She has authored the Animal Reiki Practitioner Code of Ethics, and several influential books in the field.
A quick but useful read specifically addressing providing Reiki treatments to animals in shelters. I found this to be an insightful book that you could provide to a shelter unfamiliar with Reiki. This book would be a good introduction to the benefits of Reiki for animals.
