Mercy Rising 4 Readers favorite The Christian way is to see other human beings as we see ourselves. This is a well-written book that inspires to do a bit more even when you think you have nothing to give. It is full of ideas and resources to help you be more generous with your blessings and share them with others. The many ways that we can give love, time, resources, and other items are discussed in depth here. The thought is that if we love others as Jesus loves us, we will never leave any human being without succor is quite evident in the pages of this book. Mercy Rising will be a great self-help for anyone from young adults to adults. They will find a treasure of wisdom and insight of not only why and how we should give, but also when. It is a guide that every home should have to not only motivate us to give, but also to motivate us to give the right way and for the right reason. I was impressed that this book doesn’t leave you feeling that you are not giving enough. Instead it validated what you are already doing and coaches you to give better. The sentiment that giving is good, but giving with love is the best, is very well conveyed in this book. After each concept of giving and why, you will find a test page to help you figure how well you have learned the concept. It is a great guide to teach children and teens to give of their time, efforts, and money the right way. The book includes a well-done Charitable Organization Resource Guide. It also contains pages about human trafficking and a reference on how to discover and stop it. Its teachings include quotes from the bible. This book contains Hope, Healing Light, Rebuilding and labor of love. It can be used by teachers in schools, preachers in their congregations and concerned parents who see the deteriorating state of our “Me” society and want to change it.
The summary says it all for me: "It's not that I don't care; I just don't know what to do, you think." When faced with the world's injustices, I've thought this many a time, and it's an excuse I won't be able to use any longer, not after reading Mercy Rising.
Amber Robinson is a child advocate with Compassion International, but she is also a working mother with five children who volunteers in her free time. Mercy Rising sets out specific action plans for the busy woman who wants to help others but doesn't know where to start. The book is organized into sections about why we should give, how to give, and how to fit giving into your busy life. Each chapter starts with an anecdotal story from Robinson's life and includes scripture, stories from other women, and easy steps to follow. There are references in each chapter for organizations (websites and contact information) as well as discussion/reflection questions.
This would be a perfect book to use for a women's Bible study or small group. It is insightful, informative and compelling. It is more of a reference guide than a book you would sit down and read cover to cover in one sitting like a novel.
Just One Gripe: The constant switching of perspectives left the chapters feeling a little choppy at times.
The Best Thing About This Book: The resources Robinson lays out for the reader.

Amber's book speaks loudly of how the simple things in life touch the lives of others, especially children, in ways we may never understand. Her story of how her family supported a child through a Christian ministry at a time when the family had little extra financial resources, is a powerful illustration of how parents witness to their children through their daily living. I am sure her parents never thought the picture of their sponsored child on a refrigerator planted a seed for this book and way of life. Proverbs 22:6, "Train up a child in the way he should go and he will soon not depart from it" doesn't just mean taking a child to Sunday School. It is also by being an example. "Mercy Rising" is a wonderful resource for how families can daily live out their faith and pass that faith on to their children.
This book talks about an important subject the subject matter that being the simple ways we can practics justice and compassion in a more and more injust society.
The Social Injustices pointed out in this book from poverty to sex trafficking is very real. We learn in 2004 around 35 million Americans went hungry. A scary but very real statistic.
