I really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to more from Allison B Collins! 2 wounded souls found their way to love with a cute little girl & a large family along for the ride. I always enjoy the interactions siblings in large families have in these romances. I like the way Kelsey told Nash the way it was & didn't let him get away with anything. Feisty! I recommend this book!

Ms. Collins has written one of the finest western romances I have read. She takes Nash Sullivan who is wounded in body and soul, adds Kelsey who is trying to rebuild her and her adorable daughters life after the death of her husband. Put these and the whole Sullivan family together and wow. I loved the book so much and the best part is there are more of this family coming. You will love Nash, feel all his pain and cheer him on. I cant decide who i loved the most next, Kelsey, her daughter Madison , her mom or the amazing Sullivan brothers. All in all a story that should not be missed. This went on my keeper shelf.

I read a lot… really, a lot. There are those special moments when a story, the characters and the situation are so real, so heartbreaking, maddening, and hopeful that the story just takes my breath away and I’m speechless. That’s how I’m feeling after just finishing Allison B. Collins’ A Family for the Rancher. Just at a loss for the right words to share this novel without saying too much.
We ask so much of the men and women in our armed forces. So very much. And Nash Sullivan has paid a price – the loss of a major part of his leg, the nightmares that plague him every single night and the never ending guilt that he should have been able to do more to save his men. Add to that the pride that won’t let him admit to his father or brothers the extent of his injuries, his insistence on keeping the loss of his leg a secret and you have a volcano about to erupt.
Kelsey Summers knows the heartache of loving and losing a husband. A widow with a young daughter, Kelsey has been hired by Nash’s father to be his physical therapist, to help him heal from his war injury. She is as stubborn as Nash, feisty, takes no crap from anyone and can stand toe to toe with him in an argument… Yep, Nash just met his match, in more ways than one.
There is light world building in A Family for the Rancher, there has to be in the first story of a series. We meet Nash’s father and brothers, as well as Kelsey’s daughter and mother quite naturally in the course of the story. Learn a bit about each brother that will factor into their own stories down the line, but all very much a part of this story. I appreciate world building as part of the story and not as an information dump.
I enjoyed Nash’s and Kelsey’s romance so very much. It’s realistic. It’s heartbreaking at times, and heartwarming at others. It will pull you into this couple’s lives and not let you go easily. Every single secondary characters fit perfectly within the story, and knowing that most will have their own tale told soon only made them more interesting. If you’re in the mood for a really good Romance with believable people, realistic situations then you’ll want to pick up A Family for the Rancher. I loved it and have the second story, Falling for the Rebel Cowboy, ready to dive into.
