This is the first book in a series aimed, I think, at the teenage market, although this 60 something enjoyed reading it. Danny's house blows up and his world falls apart, especially as he seems to have memories of men with blue faces who were chasing him that night.
This is a time-slip novel and I loved the blue fire which gives access to earlier times and I am expecting more such journeys in future stories. I will not give away any more of the story.
Danny and his friend Kelly are typical teenagers, swinging quickly from self-confidence to childlike fear and back again so that the reader feels sorry for them and irritated with them in equal measure. But the reader doesn't lose their curiosity to find out what happens next, as the story swings along quickly and pulls the reader in. I would recommend for anyone over about 12 - no limit upwards.

I downloaded this book because I thought it might interest my older grandchildren. As usual, I took a glance through it first - but ended up reading it from beginning to end. This novel is something very different. A real page turner for both young and older adults
