Route Home #0.5

Be Mine: The Route Home Book 0

Can a simple thank you note turn into something more? A woman searching for independence. A man searching for education. In 1881 Oregon, Cassandra Parsons has set her cap for the local lumber camp owner. She’s been coddled and protected her whole life out of her parents’ fear of losing their only surviving child. But she wants to prove she can be a capable wife and not the china doll everyone thinks she is. Each attempt ends up in disaster. Sy O’Malley, an educated-but-lonely orchard owner, doesn’t believe any townspeople share his intellectual interests. He’s been applying to live out his dream of a college education and get away from the family orchard. Reluctantly he participates in a town event, playing his treasured violin. When Cassandra literally bumps into him, he realizes she might be the one person in town who shares his intellectual interests. On a whim, he sends her an anonymous note funneled through the town busybody, not expecting her to return one of her own. Will Sy continue to keep the secret? Will Cassandra find out who truly wants her to Be Mine? Be Mine is the prequel novella to The Route Home Series. If you like Christian historical romance with strong female characters, a warm-hearted cast of characters, and a dash of humor, you’ll love this journey of a town moving from the frontier into the modern age. Gentle, sweet read

This book was fun to read. With secret notes, poetry books, and violin music, it seemed more like Boston or Philadelphia would be the setting. But no, our young lovers were in Williamette Valley, and they brought their romance into the small town. What fun they had discovering the things in common. This book was a delightful read. It seemed like every time Si walked in on her, Cassandra was creating a mess, whether it was serving food, cooking food, or helping in her parent's hotel. Fortunately for both of them, he saw far more than the messes she created. The intellectual atmosphere was an added bonus.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Candy Hearts

A good story. It related things of that time that we often forget. And the love story is so sweet.

A very enjoyable read that takes the reader to the Willamette Valley in the latter 19th century. The author has scripted a storyline that allows the reader to share in all of the roadblocks that teenage young people faced if they wanted to attend not only high school, but attend a university away from their home. It was very touching to watch Sy and Cassandra as they used the gifts that God had given them to bring in money for the needs of the small community that they called home. However, Cassandra is also wrapped up with trying to discover who her secret admirer might be! A very enlightening story that promises a very intriguing future for these two young people. A very clean and sweet romance.

I received an ARC copy of this book, but this is my voluntary, honest, and completely personal review.

Secret notes blossom into love letters in 1880's Oregon.

I enjoyed this book. It was a quick read. The heroine has a bit of a mystery on her hands as she tries to discover her secret admirer. Clean romance. Good to see that a young lady of that era was encouraged to attend college. I look forward to reading more of Jennifer Vander Klipps books.

Cassandra has 2 men interested in her. Which one is sending her notes? Is it the one she thinks she likes or the intellectual/musical man? How can she win a man when she can't cook? I don't know what the other books in this series focus on but I enjoyed this prequel. I received a free copy through a promotion. I chose to write this review.

A sweet story of an over protected young woman, and a man with responsibilities longing for more education. Conversation hearts play a role.

An absolute sweetheart of a story. Well, written! Did have trouble at first with the similarity between name Sy and Seth.
