Choosing and Using Curriculum

Rate this book
Choosing and Using Curriculum is Joyce Herzog's answer to the question homeschool parents ask her the most often, "What curriculum should I buy?" It provides concrete standards you can use to choose materials to fit both your teaching style and your children's needs.

This book (now titled Choosing & Using Curriclum: Your Guide to Home Education) was updated in 2011 and now has 111 pages with helps of all kinds from helping you determine what kind of homeschool you have and WANT to have, to where to obtain the kind of materials you need to make that happen to knowing how different phonics and math curricula work. A "two-hour read," this book is a much-needed component to design or redirect your homeschool curriculum choices. Helpful advice includes how to adapt materials for a special learner, how to teach history, take a "snapshot" of learning, determine what they can do independently, and see what was traditionally taught at K-6 grades. It will open your eyes and allow you to follow your own knowledge about curriculum rather than relying on what your friend is using or what has great advertising. That saves you time, money and great frustration!
