P.s note

I read this mystery novel in Bahasa Indonesia paperback edition which was published for the first time in the early 1980s. To tell you the truth, I was confused the first time reading it.

There was this Dr. John Farrow, an archaeologist who claimed he knew where is the exact location of the secret tomb of Queen Axtarte. He then came to Egypt, then went missing mysteriously. So when Inspector Salahadin El Nur, a top policeman in Cairo, heard about this incident, he set goals to disclose the real truth about the curse of Queen Axtarte, and to find Dr. John Farrow whereabout.

The Queen of Death> has a grippling story with classic detective plot, which can be easily adapted into a feature film. Its only problem was that readers can guess how it would end: Hollywood style.

I'm interested in the idea how the Queen would curse smugglers.

The novel is extraordinary. First of all, it's fictional, not real. An Egyptian queen of ancient Egypt who seeks for keeping her tomb safe from tomb thieves. Unlike most Egyptian rulers at that time, she made her tomb 35 km in the east. She killed the people who made her tomb, to keep it secret. It's a tradition in Egypt that when someone dies, people eat in his house. This queen made her maids poison the food at her funeral. Going 35 km and returning 35 km made the people who delivered her tomb exhausted. They ate the poisoned food, and died soon, except for two persons. The two didn't eat heavily like the others, they died three days later, but one of them could write what happened on a pillar.

As Egypt is a land with much resources, and known for its special position between the three main continents, Asia, Africa, and Europe, many countries tries to invade it and steel its resources and smuggle its treasures and antiquities. The UK stole the pillar that tells where the queen's tomb is. Dr. John Farrow found out where the tomb is. He wrote about it in 2 books. One of them was bought by Salah El-deen El-nour, an Egyptian officer, who tried to stop smuggling the queen's antiquities and valuable things from 2 kind of people. The other book was bought by another one you're going to know about when you read.

You can finish it in a short time, it's full of suspense, that you can hardly leave the book for 5 minutes.

Yes, I often buy books when I think it is useful or interesting. Especially, many of them are fashion magazines or trendy books.
-Umm. I usually read Who was...?series and I accustomed myself to them. Therefore, it was difficult to read this series like mystery or adventure. However it was fun to read this book because I am curious about the end.

-Yes, I finally liked this story because it ended happily, but I wanted more something to surprise me.

I liked the Queen's curse:

" I am Queen Axtarte - Queen of Queens. I shall live forever. These are my words: anyone who enters my tomb - anyone who touches my body - that person will die - that person will die a terrible death. And many more shall die with him."
It is awesome , just imagine it with echo.
It is generally a good story , you can read it while waiting for something.

I read this so I could help my son with his book test. This was an age appropriate read, good for beginners, with not to may difficult words. Story is easy to follow.
