Well, it didnt start out freat, i was apprehensive to see where this book was headed. But, wow, if there are facts in here on life in the South in the 60's. Just Wow. My heart broke for the women, for the slaves and their families. For genrations of Black Americans who suffered so absolutely unjustly. Just beyond sad and disappointing in people

Read in 1974. I'm sure I only read because of Paramount's movies of the same name. Racial tensions in a small town.

I read this book in college. A story of a small town Alabama sheriff in heavily the segregated rural south.
