A collector of typewriters and John Travolta VHS movies, she believes life is too short to not indulge in the things that bring you joy and in keeping with that philosophy, she left a stuffy office job of 18 years to launch a full-time indie press out of a chicken coop on her childhood property.
An author of literary and speculative fiction, Alanna likes to play in dark spaces, but always leaves room for redemption. Her latest novel is about burning down the world in order to set things right.
Settled in West Grey as a four-year-old, it has always been her home and source of inspiration and she’s working hard to build bridges between the various arts communities. With no immediate plans to abandon this, she will certainly leave it all behind the moment her husband gets on board with the van-life idea.

Overall, I really loved this collection! Each poem is deep and requires several read-throughs to fully appreciate and understand, and that is refreshing, compared to a lot of modern poetry which can be read so quickly and is kind of surface-level.
This collection is "unapologetic" as the subtitle says. It deals with topics of love, lust, family, and art. The word choices are exquisite and beautiful, laden with references from literature and culture. I recommend this collection for sure!
In the edition that I have, there were a couple of typos that led to some confusion, but typos or mistakes happen from time to time, even in the best of books.

I first read this book when it was initially published and still flip through it from time to time on my Kindle. It's a fantastic read and I find a new poem to connect with every time I open it up. Raw and very unlike any poetry I've read before (although, to be fair, I don't read a lot of poetry), there's something real special in these pages.
