The Vet's Secret Wish
Matthias Laing has Toni Nevers' assurance that she'll marry him on Valentine's Day—eleven long months away. The Vet’ Secret Wish
Mrs. Campbell once again gave us a peek inside Dr. Matthias Laing’s heart and mind with her third book it this great series. The first book The Vet’s Christmas, I used the word love to described what I took away from it. The Vet’s Valentine Gift, taught about letting go of many things in order to be open to receive others good will and to let growth happen. This third book is a combination of the first two.
Toni Nevers I’ve never been a fan of to begin with. I love Dr. Matthias and Jade, Toni’s daughter. At times I wonder if the hospital switched Jade at birth and someone is having to deal with a little Toni and Dane creation, because Jade is sweet and much smarter then those around her as far as intuitions goes. That is one of the reason she clicks with Dr. Matthias so well.
Dane is selfish and lacks people skills all together. It’s hard to believe he is Jade’s father and his DNA skipped her, thank god! Toni may get on my last nerve but I have to give Mrs. Campbell credit on character development here, Toni did grow with each book and became tolerable by the end of this third installment.
If love is what you are looking for instead of hot and heavy romance, then this is the set you need to read. You’ll find fulfillment on many levels. I laughed, cried and cussed Toni out on several times, but in the end Dr. Matthias fought for what he wanted and I believe he won. You can decide for yourself if you agree with my view.

(Individual novella and in "Spring Into Romance" box set)
The premise of this story is a great one. A woman has a second chance at love for her and her daughter after her first marriage ends when her husband just walks out. The second chance is with a man that has loved her since they went to high school together.
She has qualms about remarrying, mainly what if this marriage fails, too?
Her ex suddenly wants her back, but she doesn't see it, although everyone else does including her very precocious and wonderful 5 year old.
The authors writing style is wonderful. Very detailed but not overly inundating the reader. Her characters are wonderful and well developed.
Cons: The author states this is a novella. It is novel length. But it should be a novella. My biggest issue as a reader was that the story was way to long and repetitive. It dragged when it could have been condensed a great deal and still told the story she did, yet it would have been a much better book. I was interested to see how the book ended, which was the main reason I kept reading from about midpoint to the end. Prior to that, the novel moved ahead, still a bit slowly, but did make headway.
The best part of the book: the 5 year old, Jade, and her cat Murphy and dog Ridley. She not only is funny, insightful and precocious, but quite the animal whisperer, as well.

This is a well written sequel to the story of Matthias and Toni.
Toni is a divorced single parent. Her daughter Jade has an affinity with animals. Matthias is a vet and since he and Toni have been ‘courting’ to use a very old fashioned word, five year old Jade is doing her best to bring their marriage forward.
Jade’s father, Dane, is now regretting his actions of the past especially the divorce and friction is high between Matthias and Dane. Toni feels guilty if she doesn’t let Dane have access to Jade but Dane takes advantage of that often turning up uninvited and at inappropriate times causing tension between Toni and Matthias.
The author draws her reader into the lives of the central characters of this continuing love saga, we hope the Toni sees sense and puts boundaries on Dane’s visiting hours, we hope that Matthias has enough patience to wait for her, everybody is walking a fine line with emotions running high in some instances and misunderstandings needing to be sorted out.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this novella but I also read it as part of a larger anthology (Spring Into Romance).

I love this series and this couple. Toni does frustrate me at times and I want to shake some sense into her. But I'm enjoying reading about their ups and downs as they date, It is exciting. Seems as if Jade has more wisdom than the adults, she teaches them that things don't have to be so complicated.
