Nancy suddenly finds that she is neither short enough nor tall enough but, as the middle member of the family, discovers that she is special in her own way.
Mary Hoffman is a bestselling British author and reviewer, born in 1945. She is a true enthusiast of Italy and spends a lot of her time there, which shows in her Stravaganza novels: a series currently in publication. In total, she has written over 80 books, including the aforementioned Stravaganza series and the bestselling picture book, Amazing Grace. Mary is also the editor of a review magazine Armadillo for kids.
Nancy No-Size is a book that I consider problematic, the author is trying to convey a message in which she wants to let the readers understand that there is nothing wrong with being the middle child. I don't think the reader gets her ideas across in the book and there are not enough pictures for the students to imagine the story plot.
A fun light-hearted romp about a girl who doesn't seem to fit or fit in anywhere.
Story: Nancy is a middle child, too small for some things and too big for others. Because of this, she is referred to as no-size.
Characters: This story features Nancy and her family. The pictures are full and double paged and filled with smiles and the inside of rooms and lots of details that repeat throughout the pages.
Language: This is an excellent read together book or read on one's own. While middle children will benefit most, all will appreciate Nancy's troubles and enjoy the pictures.
A nice short book with a happy ending.
Appropriate for storytimes, based on length and pictures.
