He graduated from the Faculty of History and Philology of the Orenburg Pedagogical Institute. V.P. Chkalov. He worked as a technician-operator on the construction of highways, as a special correspondent for the regional newspaper " South Ural ". In 1980 he moved to Moscow, where he became deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine "Young Guard", since 1972 he was elected a member of the board and secretary of the Writers 'Union of Russia , chairman of the bureau of the association of prose writers of the Moscow Writers' Organization (until 1995). He was a member of the editorial boards of the weekly "Moscow Literator" and the magazine "Young Guard".
Since 2002 he has been engaged in creative work. Member of the Writers' Union of the USSR.
