Published in the early 80s, this book was like taking a step back in time. Life seemed pretty simple. A boy, his Labrador Retriever, school, playing on the mountain, visiting the one neighbor on the mountain. But soon it all changed. An adoptive sister with dog allergies arrives. Hippie neighbors move in. The Katz family, who are dog haters yet cat lovers arrive. A vicious German Shepherd completes the disaster. Life changes drastically for Moonshadow and his boy. Yet through it all, the devotion never waivers. Progress is inevitable. Moonshadow faces it all.
