A light, enjoyable ramble through the highlights of a colourful life. If he is to be believed, Boothby witnessed most of the cataclysmic geopolitical events of the first half of the twentieth century at close quarters, exercising a Forrest Gump-like influence without ever receiving the credit for his actions and foresight. I can’t speak for the veracity of his many anecdotes about the great and the good of his time, but they’re certainly entertaining.
