Not for most people (it'd be boring I imagine) but I found it super interesting. It's written in the 1950s and uses primary source excerpts to tell the story of fishing and it's tangents around the Chesapeake all the way up to the Potomac (but no further north).

This was an interesting history of fishing in the Chesapeake Bay in colonial times. The author relies heavily on written material from the period, perhaps overly so, as after a while it starts to break the flow and becomes a bit tedious. Other than that drawback, it was a nice read. The picture that Wharton paints of aquatic abundance makes you wish that you could be fishing 300 years ago, just for a day.
