Not a very good scan of an old book. The OCR scan rendered quite a mess of text and made the book very difficult to read. I do not recommend. Either find a direct image scan or but the actual book.

Not a hymn book
There are NO hymns is this. Hymns are talked about, first lines are mentioned but no hymns. It is a book of poor biography, much incident and anecdotes but alas not one hymn.
