Rate this book
What’s a hero to do? Detective Thomas Tanner doesn’t always play by the rules when it comes to crime-busting, but his arrest record is the envy of the department, and he takes pride in his reputation for getting the job done. So when his identity is stolen and FBI Agent Nathan Cuddy shows up at headquarters with accusations of Internet fraud via a romance scam, Tanner goes ballistic. Cuddy, Tanner’s nemesis is not above twisting the facts to get to Thomas, but the complaint against him is right there in black and white, claiming he bilked one Samantha Savage out of ten grand… and Thomas knows there’s only one way to set things right. He has to reason with Ms. Savage, and get her to drop the charges…. Storm the castle. Save the damsel in distress… sort of ….Samantha Savage is a romance novelist with an avid following and a love of all things Viking. Her series The Naked Norsemen was a huge hit. The residents of Jenna’s Cove, Maine think she’s glamorous, a romantic and somewhat mysterious figure, but they don’t know about Sammy’s crazy ex-husband, or that she triple-locks her doors the moment the sun goes down. The last thing gun-shy Sam wants is a romance, but when her best friend Jilly buys her a membership to an online dating service, she stumbles onto the perfect guy, and falls hard. Swedish, big, blonde, and handsome, with perpetual sunburn, Thomas Tanner steals her heart, and then walks away with her life’s savings. So, when the Thomas Tanner--the gorgeous guy who stole her heart and her money--shows up at her door, Sammy takes to the battlements and along with her little dog Pookie prepares to defend her home. The results are laugh out loud funny. Samantha’s Viking (formerly entitled Love-Match.Com) is the second book in the Jenna’s Cove Romance Series , sexy contemporary romances with quirky characters, and a touch of humor.

Samantha Savage lives her life through writing romance novels, after suffering through an abusive marriage she's locked her heart away and lives with her Pomeranian Pookie. Her friend buys her a membership to Love-match.com and she reluctantly gives it ago, she's taken with the picture of Thomas Tanner and through several email conversations she slowly finds her heart thawing and finds herself falling in love with him, whenever she gets nervous he always seems to know what to say to bring her round and make her feel better. A visit is arranged after his business trip and yes he's trapped abroad and needs a loan, ten thousand dollars later she knows she's made a terrible mistake and contacts the FBI, the real Thomas appears on her doorstep in an effort to try and sort out this disaster.
I started reading this book early this morning and at one point I had my hand over my mouth trying to stop laughing so I didn't wake anyone, the scene where Thomas has his first meeting with Pookie was hilarious. Then when Thomas checks out Samantha's books to discover what she likes, while reading about "Rolf the Red Beard" Gandulfsson who stormed Lady Alyssa Blackbriar's castle he noted that he'd committed at least a half-dozen felonies that should have netted him twenty to life with very little chance of parole six times over. Jonathan also had me laughing, I don't know if it's just that I was in the right mood for this book because it can make a difference but I just loved it, the characters, the small town feel everything about it. I'd recommend this book if you like a nice romance especially if you like a bit of humour in your books and I for one can't wait for the next one.
