Clinging to her steadfast faith, she finally finds the courage to desperately flee with her children.

Anne’s mission in writing her book was to help others facing adversity — to offer them hope in the midst of despair. She achieves that and more. One reviewer shared that the book helped her during a tumultuous time in her life.

Anne treasures the time spent with her three daughters and their families. In addition to attending her grandchildren’s activities, she is active in her church and organizations in her community that reach out to those in need.

This was an interesting audio book. Listening to it, I would often forget that I was listening to a memoir and not a novel. The author overcomes many obstacles and does eventually learn to stand up for herself. I am glad to have heard her story.

I wish I would have read this book rather than listen to it. I think it might be just me but I didn't enjoy this narration. The voice felt overly dramatic for a memoir to me.

What an amazing journey Anne Sauter Lieb takes us on! A personal yet relatable chronology of overcoming adversity, including struggles with learning disabilities, marriage, and the effects of PTSD on loved ones. Truly an inspirational story of courage, strength, and faith, formatted in such a way as to keep the reader coming back for more.

I admire Anne Sauter Lieb, the author of Not Ours to See. She has demonstrated so much courage in writing her riveting memoir. The pain is palpable when she suffers childhood emotional abuse from her father and later in her marriage marked by more emotional trauma. In spite of the adversities, this resilient woman resolves to provide her children with better lives … whatever it takes.
