After a general short introduction per period there is the catalogue of the French paintings in the Parisian museum the Louvre, photographs with a short description.
I’m afraid it is just what the description mentions about the book’s contence: short and general, and most of all: not elaborating on the style aspects of the different periods represented in the museum, let alone about the paintings, but merely consisting of mentioning who acquired what when, and praising the greatness of the Louvre for the paintings’ quality. Have a look in the book for the pictures, skip the text. (hardly 3*) JM
