In this book the reader will find the Master Key to Self-Realization that is in the form of the methodical teaching of Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj about Self-Knowledge and realization of Final Reality. The teaching contained in this text reflects the clear and direct language that was used by Shri Siddharameshwar Maharaj and that has been similarly used for expressing Advaita Vedanta teachings that have been passed down through the ages. The spiritual instruction contained in this book forms the foundation for understanding the Advaita teachings of Shri Ranjit Maharaj and Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj, and is consistent with the teachings of other great Masters such as Shri Ramana Maharshi, Shri Adi Shankaracharya, and Saint Shri Samartha Ramdas, among others. May the one reading these words attain the realization of the Final Reality with the aid of this text by the Grace of the Sadguru, who is your own True Self. Jai Sadguru Parabrahman
On the most basic level this book examines the path to true self-knowledge. It does this by uncovering and releasing the various levels of self that stand in the way of this understanding. It is easiest to explain by taking a quick look at the four levels that we must overcome in order to gain this knowledge. The first is the Gross Body, which borrowing from Douglas Adams, I like to call the meat suit. Simply put this is our flesh and blood. Standing above this is our Subtle Body which is where we find our emotions, intellect, and all thought, including the ego. Above this is the Causal Body, which as I understand it is the go-between of the lower Gross and Subtle Bodies and the Source/True Self/Greater Causal Body. It is also the place of ignorance, not in the negative connotation but rather where we release the base lower bodies. And as mentioned standing above this all is the Greater Causal Body which is the true home of the Self. Few ever find it and even fewer stay.
I would highly recommend this book to any that are seeking a greater or new understanding of the Self or simply interested in or curious about a greater understanding about our place in the universe. You must also be open to the language and thought process of an Indian guru, but at 92 pages, it is worth it!
Got this book from the kindle loan library. I thought it was written by Saghuru. It was not. Very sublime Hindu spirituality how much of it is useful well that is up to the reader. Most of what is written down seems to be lectures that have been written down. Starting with our birth our existence is fragile and subjective. We tend to want to gather things to ourselves like money, family and all sorts of material things. This caused by the illusion that we are out body. The self realization that is written here tells us that our identity is not our physical body. It is just a meat suit that we use to wander about this world. According to Hindus we have four bodies. The first is our physical body , the second our mental body, third the causal body and finally Turya. In fact we are none of these bodies and to overcome these illusions puts us in a special spiritual state. Who are we really? We are Brahman the supreme god. He is the creator of all and is all. Everything, including us is Brahman. Even the gods are Brahman. The separate identities are just illusions. One can see some parallels in Kabballa. This is the world of Maya or illusion. Nothing in this existence is real. We chase riches in vain. Our bodies ache and pain while we chase riches that only bring us misery. Desire is the root of suffering. Do not be taken in by spiritual powers the decisive and take away the quest of enlightenment and attach us to this worldly existence. Imagination makes things worse. We think things of I'll fortune will.blow our way. This is all in our imagination and that makes things worse
I'm not sure how to describe this book. But I certainly have a few statements to make.
#1 - It shouldn't be read by someone who'd never been in contact with Advaita Vedanta. That's for sure. Specially Ramana Maharshi's philosophy. Still, even those who are prone for intellectual material - such as Vedanta students - won't be able to deal with it. Otherwise, its content might feel like a real breakdown. For this matter - and as a synthetic book that is - it should be regarded as a companion for prior and further knowledge.
#2 - The second point here is that - as long as the first steps have been taken - it offers tangible substance for the Self-Enquiry discipline and - most important - UNDERSTANDING. If someone wants to practice Ātmā-Vicāra with no additional knowledge such as that which this book promotes, one might really get lost along the way for Self-Realization.
If the reader has read about the Kabbalah, maybe some of the concepts brought by this book might sound familiar.
So, I think I can tell this book has the quality of refining advanced techniques used by experienced sadhakas, yogis and meditators. As well as serve for those who have studied Eastern mysticism etc. So it certainly may be used as a reference guide as well.
This is truly a masterpiece from the Absolute. The process of studying this book takes you back to the Self. No more words can do it any justice. Study this book and experience it yourself.
Master of Self-Realization is a profound and direct transmission of truth, carrying the essence of Advaita Vedanta as taught by Siddharameshwar Maharaj, the guru of Nisargadatta Maharaj. This book is not just about intellectual understanding—it is a razor-sharp guide to breaking free from illusion and recognizing the Absolute beyond mind and body.
Siddharameshwar Maharaj’s teachings are simple yet deeply penetrating, cutting through all conceptual barriers and pointing straight to self-realization. His words are uncompromising, urging the reader to transcend identification with the transient and rest in the formless awareness that is our true nature.
What makes this book extraordinary is its clarity and precision. It does not indulge in philosophical complexities but instead presents the highest wisdom in a way that is both accessible and transformative. Each page is a call to awaken, stripping away layers of conditioning and false identity.
For serious seekers of non-duality, this book is a treasure—offering the ultimate understanding that liberation is not something to attain, but something to recognize. A must-read for those on the path to self-realization.
Shri Sadguru Siddharameshwar Maharaj is known outside of India only as the guru of the famed Shri Nisargadatta Maharaj. Nisargadatta spoke of him often and always in the most reverential terms. That naturally ignites one's curiosity and so I was thrilled to see that his teachings have been made available in English.
On the most basic level this book examines the path to true self-knowledge. It does this by uncovering and releasing the various levels of self that stand in the way of this understanding.
There are times reading this book, when the "individual jiva or ego-self", might tire of the message being hammered", yet there are times when one knows that "there truly is nothing else in life", except "the Truth" or Self-Realization, offered from Siddharameshwar's message. We tend to believe that if we can "just make our life a bit more comfortable", or acquire this, that or the other object of the senses", then we can relax-into this truth and come to REALIZATION, later. False, and it is further instructed that 1) We have no hope to be set-free of the body-mind-complex and come to REALIZE our SELF, without the help of a Guru, who is Self-Realized. Yet, we can be reminded, and we can relish and bask in the nectar of a True Realized Being, one Shri Sadguru Siddharameshwar Maharaj, (great guru to the more well-known Nisargadatta Maharaj), by reading, studying and knowing the truth contained in this book.
I will miss these words, of Maharaj's spirit pouring-through the pages to my soul. Yet, I do know, that there is NO THING, absolutely NO THING, I can say, do, achieve or acquire, that can give me the well-being, the sense of belonging, and no-divided self, that we all feel as jiva's or corporeal bodies, other than to REALIZE the SELF. Everything else is a mere distraction, and some more than that, a going-backward in Life.
To be Still and know the Self is the ONLY realization that can offer us true contentment and happiness, and that's what I have learned from reading this book (as well as from other authors from this lineage) .
Yet, God is no fool, and he knows when we are mature, capable and truly desirous to "know the Truth". In the meantime, japa, prayers, bajans and always knowing that our greatest good lies with the death of the false ego that propels us forever onward in search of that which can only be fulfilled by going-withing and being Here and Now.
May we all come sooner than later to Ultimate Liberation.
