A Woman's Heart That Dances by Catherine Martin is a beautifully written and composed invitation to the reader to step onto the dance floor and dance with the Heavenly Father. Martin, who was a dancer, uses many similarities between dance and a relationship with God, and the metaphor is a powerful one. From trusting your partner, to discipline, to moving in synch, Martin uses each step in learning how to dance as a step in trusting the Lord and living life with him at the center. Martin, as always, uses a mix of anecdotes, quotes from theologians, Scripture, and personal insight to support her thesis. It's a potent mixture that is both moving and inspiring. I read a lot of devotionals every year, but Martin's always have a huge heart, and they stick with me. This is no exception to that rule. It will inspire readers to want to step out in the dance, to live both fully and freely in God.
A Woman's Heart That Dances by Catherine Martin is a wonderful book that uses dancing as a metaphor for building a wonderful life with God.She reminds us that God's invitation to dance with him is always there if we only recognize and respond to him. The first step is learning how to trust him enough to let him take the lead. This book truly reminds us of the amazing plans God has in store for each of us if we choose to heed him and follow him in the dance. The author does an amazing job of weaving scriptures together with her own personal story to bring us an amazing message of God's love. This will be a book that I will refer to often as I continue my walk with God. Thanks to First Reads and the author for the opportunity to read this great book. This is the first book I have read by Catherine Martin but I look forward to reading many more of her devotional books.
I simply adore this book. Where have you been all my life, Catherine? I never could find a book that described all the little things I needed to know about truly dancing with God. I heard someone use the expression, "Life is like a dance." It really is true! I'm dancing for God, living for Him in the various circumstances of life. God is romantic, thoughtful, charming, and full of insight like no one else I will ever meet. It was great to see someone write out all these things and back them up with scripture. Sure, she did repeat herself a couple of times but I did like it. It took me a bit longer to finish it because it's one of those books that is self help/testimonial, but I'm glad I read it. ;)
Received this from Goodreads. I found this book beatifully writen. The author was excellent in the way she brought this around. Catherine Martin gives her reader an invitation to come and learn lean to dance with the Lord. She showes us how the steps in dancing and our relationship with the Lord are similer. Also she show with each step in dancing we have to trust and let the Lord do the leading. She uses scripture and quotes to support her. I would recommand this to all women who are looking for a closer relationship with the Lord. The book really touch me. I also gave as a gift and lent my copy. This is how much I enjoyed the book.
