I realize this book is from the 80s so maybe my review is a bit harsh, but the idea of striving to be popular makes me cringe. The redeeming factor of the book is that the main character is actually really nice and also I love the local newspaper idea. Also maybe it’s not so much as she wanted to be popular but rather just not be lonely.
This was a really cute late 80s novel about a girl who moves to a new town, makes new friends and has to learn how to diplomatically stand up for what's right. It's good without being preachy.
Wow. I just remembered this existed when I came across it at the thrift store today. A whopping one hundred or so pages promises that a valuable lesson will be learned as quickly as possible.
