Reading the short fiction stories in this compilation it constantly reminded me of Shinichi Hoshi, a very funny and inventive science-fiction writer. It felt I was reading a second rate Shinichi Hoshi, someone trying to replicate his rhythm and style but failing and ending up with something that might make you chuckle but not much more. It's not bad, it's just... meh. The non-fiction parts are somewhat interesting, even if some read like fiction.
The best: it is trying
The worst: it is failing
Alternatives: give Shinichi Hoshi a chance; if you like silly humor and originality, he has heaps to share
