This book is what it claims to be. It is an essential guide to lesson planning.
As a trainee teacher about to embark upon my first year in the classroom, I bought this book hoping it would help me through the trials of planning my English lessons.

The book is aimed at all teachers, whether new to the profession or established, whether Primary, Secondary or beyond, not matter the subject. That said, it is the English/Welsh education system it refers to, though even teachers from other countries can glean fantastic wisdom and techniques from within its pages.

It is slim and easy to carry (though a bit wide) and is stylishly designed, but more importantly it is accessible in its style, and the layout makes it easy to flick through and pick up pointers. It practices what it preaches, with each chapter having 'lesson objectives' at the start and the end summarising what has been explained/learnt and giving tips for further study.

Having read this, I now feel much more prepared to plan my lessons and having it by my side when planning means I'll be able to check up on things as I go.

I have yet to check out the accompanying website, but if it is even half as useful as the book I'll be laughing.
